KentuckyJoe Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Half asleep in bed last night I was reading a story that the big guys at Michigan are considering making a large offer to Stoops at season end. I cant find the link now. All just talk BUT do you think Stoops would stay at UK. With the job he is doing and his talent at recruiting I am sure several schools have him on their radar. Will Stoops stay and keep building UK football whenever large offers come his way or will he leave. I love the guy and hope he stays for a long time. With the remodel of commonwealth and all the talent he is bringing plus playing in the SEC it doesn't get much better. I really feel he can turn UK in to a contender especially in the East.
PurplePride92 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 If true I guess we'll find out. Truth be told with his recruiting ability it may be an easier path to the playoffs at Michigan than at UK. All he'd have to do is beat OSU. And Michigan State. Much easier than the SEC. The Big Ten sucks. Can UK match Michigan money is the real question.
John Anthony Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Could see them going up to 5 mill a year for Stoops.
PurplePride92 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I hope he stays. UK football needs a fella like Stoops running the program. They better open up the checkbook and pay that man.
Bengal Maniac Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 If this is true, I see no way he turns it down. He will be going to a football school with a 100K+ stadium and huge fan base. It also is a more winnable conference and a much better football name for recruiting. I am not sure even matching the $$ will help. The only down side I see is the pressure to win will be exponentially greater at Michigan than Kentucky. He has to win National Championships there, at UK he needs to keep them talking that they might win the SEC East and play meaningful games in October and November.

MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 ...... Does anyone think that David Brandon (renowned business man, incredibly average director of athletics) would talk to journalists about "his list", especially when it is a sitting coach (and he has a sitting coach)? People crack me up. If Hoke is fired, is Mark Stoops a likely person to be targeted? Sure. However, to think Brandon is running around telling people his plan borders on asinine. Does he have a list of 6-10 candidates for every revenue generating sport at Michigan in his desk? Sure. Is Stoops #1? Doubtful. Is he sharing that list with anyone outside of his most trusted circle? Absolutely not.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Hard to pay him as much or more than Cal. Have you reviewed a P&L on each sport?

These leaks seem to end up more true than not. #youdidntgetthisfromme
ColonelCrazy Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Whether it's true or not, it makes sense...
PurplePride92 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Whether it's true or not, it makes sense... It sure does.
LCDAWGS19 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Regardless of how horrible they are right now, if Michigan comes calling, you go. Kentucky is not Michigan when it comes to football, and will never be. Same thing with Kentucky basketball. If they come calling, you go.
Jumper_Dad Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I think Mark Stoops may be on the list, but I don't think he's the top of the list. UK can pay, it would be more of will they pay.
