Covcath was trailing Henderson at half (at home) and won 49-28, Madisonville beat Henderson 49-0 @ Henderson. Owensboro was driving to beat Bowling green, down 1 with just over 2 mins in game and put 34 on them. Owensboro just beat Madisonville @ Madisonville 29-22. It's pretty conclusive CCath is not the 2nd best team. I saw highlands defense last year, they are not nearly as good as BG. Covcath is about number 5 right now...tops

We've established the whole "half" mistake thing...you're late to the party.

I'm not so sure this holds totally true...Boone gave Cov. Cath all they wanted for a half and we all kind of just said it was Boone playing well and Cov. Cath playing sloppy...but it now appears that it may have been Boone playing well and Cov. Cath just not being nearly as good as advertised...the rest of Cov. Cath's schedule is as average as it gets and the two real opponents they have played have crushed them.

 

I wouldn't knock them out of the top 5 as that they're still probably a solid team, but I do think that much like Collins did last year, Owensboro or Mad North Hopkins could sneak up on the East's winner and catch them with a hay maker in a one-game-shot at the championship.

 

Highlands game against Campbell Co. is concerning for their argument of invincibility against the rest of 4A. You would be hard pressed to convince me Campbell is better than Boyle, Johnson Central, Obro, or Mad. N. Hopkins...that said, I would wage most of my $100 on the Bluebirds if it came down to it.

 

You don't have to believe me about the HHS/CC game, but I will tell you what I saw. I saw CC score on their last play of the game with a specatacular one-handed grab. I saw HHS brand new line (from what I was told) not one varsity start for any of them. Two had moved from the defensive side of the ball. I saw a plethora of false starts and holding penalties from that line that put their offense in horrible situations in every qtr except the first. I also saw hoge rushing passes, choosing the wrong reads and then over and under throwing WIDE open receivers all night. Guess what...none of that happens anymore. In my opinion, Camp Co played a really good game, but that game was not as close as it looked AND If that game were played now, it would be an interesting outcome. Some will argue this stuff, but that's what I saw. Someone mentioned in another thread, HHS doesn't beat you, they let you beat yourself. Meaning they don't make mistakes, they stay disciplined and make you play the entire game without mistakes. They did not do that in the Campbell Co game. I think they had more penalties on the offensive line in that game than they have in the entire rest of the season. It was just an ugly first game for the birds.

No argument, I didn't see the game. But after the coaching change, the loss to Collins, the blowout by Trinity in the scrimmage, the close score against CC and some of the scores I've seen out of the West, I'm just going to take the stance that 4A is not a foregone conclusion as that I just don't believe that Highlands is the road grading monster it was a few years back. I DO believe that they are still top dog for now...just not an untouchable top dog.

If Franklin-Simpson is at full strength, they will have to be included in the 4A West conversation along with Owensboro and Madisonville.

Yes it is a foregone conclusion. No one can compete with Highlands in 4A if CovCath can't.

Yes, it's over. Rack 'em up. I'll be cheering for Boyle county to get runner up but no one is competing with Highlands.

Yes it is a foregone conclusion. No one can compete with Highlands in 4A if CovCath can't.

 

That has really been the case for the past several years minus the Collins game last season. There have been some solid teams in 4A over that time but have just run into a program that is on another level. Congratulations to Highlands on the big win.

Dont mistake the team that played Campbell to the team you will see by the end of the year..... this team will be tremendously better come playoffs!

You saw HHS defense LAST year and determine they are not nearly as good as BG this year?
