The scary part of Highlands is that they seem to play - and are coached - slightly differently in the regular season and in the playoffs.

 

The regular season seems to be that working on new things, new set, etc in games - especially non-district games. They figure who can do what best, which plays work against which defensive sets.

 

Then in playoffs it seems they use all of that and tune up the entire team and play calling to another level.

 

Having watched the 'Birds 3 seasons in a row in the semis, there is no doubt that this thrashing is very bad news for those wanting to challenging in November. However good Highlands seems now, they will be better come playoffs.

Nice effort by all last night on both sides of the ball. Offense took what cch gave them and took them to the wood shed. I heard reference to smashmouth football? Defense was spectacular with two picks and at least one fumble recovery and you talk about laying the wood. How about the pick return by brady murray? He was running angry on that return. Andrew abner set the tone for who owned the middle of the field. More worried about them hurting one another the way they flew around. From what i hear the quote of the week was just play football.

Just silly talk. CCH is a solid team with some very athletic players. HHS went into this game as an underdog by a lot of people because of the previous success of CCH's underclassmen. Having Highlands as your #3 is perfect. This "mediocre" team is starting to make a statement on who they are. Putting the smash back into smash mouth football at Highlands.

I'd love to see Boyle come in for the semi finals should Highlands get there. I always root for Boyle against Lexcath. Especially after some of the antics I saw out of a Lexcath lineman at Highlands 2 years ago.
