September 26, 201411 yr Trinity winning the 2001 4A title. It was my senior year. We had been absolutely obliterated by Male the year before. I definitely welled up. Choked up in the final moments of the 2013 NCAA title game. I also welled up a little later in the night after the Dayton/Syracuse game that sent UD to the Sweet 16 for the first time in 30 years. It wasn't the game; it was being on the internet afterward and seeing pictures from campus and being on Facebook and Twitter and seeing all the things alumni were saying. I don't know that it counts for purposes of the thread, but I definitely had water in the eyes that night. I was so happy.
September 26, 201411 yr A couple of years ago, the 1980 U.S./Soviet Union hockey game was re-aired in its entirety (can't remember which channel). I did tear up a bit after the final horn sounded and pandemonium ensued (actually tears mixed with chills). I was 15 when the game originally took place. It is without a doubt the most memorable sporting event I've ever witnessed. There is no close 2nd.
September 26, 201411 yr Both Bengal Super Bowls. Game 7 of the 1972 World Series (which I was at as a youngster). All Cincinnati team losses.
September 26, 201411 yr I've thrown things, broken things, awakened neighbors, been depressed, but don't ever recall crying.

September 26, 201411 yr When Covington Catholic won the Kentucky High School Boys Sweet 16 in March of this year I welled up with tears unexpectedly as a flood of thoughts entered my mind relating to my Dad, having played on their very first Varsity team as a Junior back in 1936, and the Colonel pride that I grew up with him a '37 graduate, and my older brother also a graduate, who provided a lot of great childhood memories for me when he attended CCH in the late 60's and early 70's. I followed in their footsteps and also graduated a Colonel in the early 80's. The long history of Colonel pride to have finally, after all these years, produced a state champ in basketball, and what it means to my Dad, Brother and me made me feel ever so overjoyed and emotional that surprised even myself. Even while watching the game I had no idea that the tears would start to flow when the final horn sounded, and the celebration began, but they sure did along with many goose bumps.
