September 13, 201412 yr I thought Louisville would win today and I was wrong. Hate to imagine what's going to happen in the game I actually thought would be the most early-season trouble if the Cardinals don't straighten out the line and the buffoonery on special teams. Things could be scary from Syracuse and on if there isn't improvement. The OL definitely plays a big role, but I believe Gardner needs to improve too if they keep him as the starter.

The game is basically won and all but over if Michaelee Harris doesn't run straight into Quick while he's trying to field that punt with four minutes left. They turned the fumble into the winning field goal. Just awful.

Many forgot two things: -The ACC is an infinitely better conference than the AAC -Miami is not very good offensively -Most importantly, Louisville is making a dramatic philosophy change. Strong was all about defense and opportunistic offense. Petrino has never been known for defense and likes to score at will. This change will take time. At times they'll look good. At times they won't. Just the nature of the beast.
September 13, 201412 yr It will hurt too that Louisville got dealt a bad hand on this year's schedule. They have some tough games on the road, like at Clemson and at Notre Dame still to come. They at least have FSU at home, but then again, they have to play FSU.

I think the biggest difference is between the change in coaching; Strong and Petrino have completely different coaching philosophies, which is a major adjustment within itself.

Not having done so, I question if UL has sufficient leadership. UL made a very nice comeback but then backslid. It's a little too early to render final judgment though

He'll get them together eventually, but we're in a world of hurt with no deep throw threat and a QB that throws flat. How many passes got batted down today?
