LOL No, but it is just a plant, right?! Water, sunlight and good soil are all you need.

I'm not a fan of the marijuana infused candy that is being sold, some is like gum and some looks kinda like Gummi bears.

Seems to me that if they're losing $21 million because 40 percent of purchasers bought it on the black market, then Colorado is still sitting on over $52 million they didn't have last year with the prospect of still bringing that number up.

Where is that being sold? Never heard of it.

A few quick thoughts:

 

1. The ability to grow up to 6 plants for personal use likely impacts the number of people going out and purchasing it.

 

2. The people who purchase medicinal marijuana and then re-sell it should be prosecuted.

 

3. You can purchase a "medicinal marijuana card" for $15 (assuming it gets approved by the doctor). I'd imagine it's very easy to get approved, if you schedule an appointment & apply for the card. Estimates show that approximately 1/4 of the marijuana smokers in Colorado have a medical card & purchasing medicinal marijuana (which is not taxed as heavily).

 

4. Everybody knew there would be some kinks to work out.

 

5. Colorado has still made a lot of money from it.

That's a curiosity for me too. I knew people that started smoking it in college that are perfectly normal. I know several people that started smoking it in high school and they were what I would generously call a bit slow on the uptake.

And then there's PP92.

Have there been any unintended consequences from the legalization in Colorado? Seems most of the reporting out of Colorado have said it has been a smoking success so far. (pun intended)

 

I wouldn't expect the news outlets in Co to release many stories that don't shine a positive light on it.

Isn't pretty much any commodity on a black market of some kind? Toys, vehicles, sex, cell phones, tennis shoes, etc.

Have a buddy that went out to CO a few weeks ago for a conference, Visited a "weed" store, bought some, partook. Took some picks...it's very highly regulated and almost like buying a prescription the way it comes packaged and labeled.

 

Any yes, anything they can put it in they are...cookies, candy, chocolate, you name it.

Since you cannot over dose on pot (that I know of), other than a larger percentage of the population being in a haze, there probably are not more consequences. Someone said homelessness has increased but then some retorted that the pot heads probably just forgot where they lived. LOL.

Started in my second semester of college. Quit once I realized I needed to become a more responsible adult. Now I just drink a whole lot of beer. I miss it but the consequences of getting busted or arrested for weed far outweighs the desire for me to partake again on a regular basis.

Bert, I have heard the same thing about not overdosing but then I have heard (haven't researched it) that some people have overdosed on the edibles by either eating too many of them or consuming ones that had more THC than they were supposed to.

Went to Amsterdam in my early 20s and the edibles came with a warning label that basically said "if you don't feel anything in 45 minutes DON'T EAT ANOTHER ONE!"
