Pretty Kid Friendly delivery system!

Halloween is going to be a blast this year in Colorado.

I've for years have seen kinks with alcohol legalization such as at Midnight on Friday and Saturday nights cars lined up in abundance around drive-thru liquor stores with folk undoubtedly making not their first alcohol purchase of the evening, and then driving off to undoubtedly consume their newly bought product within short order.

Or driving away from a bar that they've been sitting in for hours consuming alcohol.

This happens every weekend and not just on weekends.

We do know that the more one drinks the more intoxicated they become never mind the other various health hazards of consuming alcohol.

Although harmful, we freely advertise it.

We as a society promote it strongly as something that must be associated with our sporting events or just about any other event, for it just wouldn't be the same without it.

On Sundays numerous fans consume mass quantities while at the Stadiums and then thousands jump into their cars dangerously heading for home or to the bars to keep the party going while the police department turns their heads because tons of money is being generated for the city.

Although the cops nail a few here and they're generating more funds for the city, a higher percentage drive on intoxicated and are not bothered for fear that fans would get uptight with restrictions and not come out of their homes to spend their money.

Yet I never seem to hear any outcry about it.

...But... from even those drowning in their own suds, I hear how people who smoke pot

(and most who do just don't smoke and smoke and smoke and smoke because you don't really get much higher by continuing to smoke in one setting, therefore you can't overdose one it, and people who want to buzz are typically content with one joint)

... are spacey hippy drug addicts walking around in a daze.

Can't really lay a blanket statement over this but those who are drunk are more inclined to be the aggressive fighter types than those who are chillin' with their pot buzz.

Yet as a society in general we're still very much alright with boozing it up, while pot smokers are considered by many to be irresponsible losers who are undoubtedly partaking in a so called gateway drug.

Am I the only one here that sees this as an illogical double standard ???

Nope. And I think most folks view it the same as you do. The government made pot illegal a long time ago for ill advised reasons and that wrong has never been fixed.

Bert, I have heard the same thing about not overdosing but then I have heard (haven't researched it) that some people have overdosed on the edibles by either eating too many of them or consuming ones that had more THC than they were supposed to.

Anyone on this?

I have never heard of anyone overdosing on marijuana, whether it's by smoking it, eating it, or a combination of both.

The difference with edible marijuana, compared to smoking it, is how long it takes for the high to kick in. If you smoke THC, it goes straight to the brain and the high is almost instant. If you ingest the THC, your body must metabolize it, so it can take anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours before you feel a "high". This can be dangerous, as most people want instant gratification & will consume more & more & more until they feel a buzz.

Also, there are some dangers associated with consuming edibles containing THC, given the fact that you don't really know what's in it (unless you make it yourself). I have heard of some edibles containing liquor (i.e. vodka) which obviously changes a lot of things, including one's tolerance.

Over the years I've had my fair share of experiences with marijuana and most of the time pretty good ones.

It helped to make me very prolific and creative in my song writing and in many ways it made watching movies or listening to music 1000 times more interesting.

Years ago it helped me grasp computer programming long before my classmates could comprehend what the teacher was getting at and it helped me zone in and manage better through complicated technical assignments, not to mention just an all around feeling of happiness and contentment when sitting still chilling out and watching the clouds roll by, but for personal choices I haven't partaken in about 5 years for similar reasons that Neil Young quit, which was that although he had nothing against it, he had come to a place in life where we was satisfied with just approaching life without a buzz and enjoying life simply for what it was.

I wonder too if it's affecting his song writing just as it has done mine, which for me is fairly non-existent these days. The creative juices just don't seem to flow like they once did. I'd like to know just how many of the wonderful songs written over the years by so many fantastic artists were helped along by a puff or two here and there.

I still muster the desire thankfully once in awhile to pick up the guitar to at least strum through some of my personal classics, but the dream to pursue a music career seems to have faded some along with my usage of the wonder weed.

It always had an effect to help make me dream bigger it seems, and I could probably now use some counseling to help me find that same type of motivation that I once had before I quit smoking it.

When high I never wanted to leave my guitar alone. That's probably the number 1 thing I miss.

I never experienced withdrawal and have come to not really having much of a desire to do it, just as my desire to drink has evaporated as well. I'm clean as a whistle.

Although clean, I still have nothing against pot and know through experience that it's much more safer than alcohol. Still though I'm very much content with life just as it is, and I don't see that changing with me anytime soon.

With that said, roughly five or six years ago I accepted a brownie a friend of mine gave me, which I had never experienced before, just before a Judas Priest concert, and although the buzz wasn't terrible, it was most certainly different than any experience I ever had smoking it.

It took a while to creep up on me and when it did it sorta put me in a zoned out state of numbness that bothered me some because I didn't feel as in control and how to navigate with it as I was used to being in better control with past marijuana experiences.

I got through it and the concert was spectacular, but the feeling it gave me wasn't exactly one that made me want to experience it that way ever again.

It certainly was a different sort of buzz and one that I didn't particularly care for. Not sure how it's affected others, but it wasn't exactly my cup of tea. Perhaps escalating my blood sugar was of no value to me and contributed to some of it's affect.

Although I no longer do it, it never gave me any long term ill-effects, and I'm not a hippy loser tempted to try any other of the various street drugs that are popular and running rampant these days, and most definitely I'm not the least bit interested, and never have been, in trying Crack, Coke, Meth or Heroin etc...

I'm just a down to earth guy who's of sound mind, aiming to stay healthy, who lives day to day hoping to enjoy life without complication, with fun events, hobbies and interests, and surrounded by great friends.

Thankfully, It all appears to be working out pretty well. I can't complain, although just as many humans do, I still finds reasons to, and that in itself is something that I'm working on. As a human, perfection still eludes me some, but all in all it's all pretty much OK.
