Newport Central Catholic/Ashland - Postponed

Why are you having such a tough time w this? NOBODY complained about the original trip. It is turning around and doing it the very next day w the expenses and needless travel involved.

There would have been no expenses. Can't use that excuse.

I loved making the 2 hour trips to play Lexington schools back when I played. I laugh at the complaint of making a long trip to play a football game. Perhaps the NKY schools should drop out of the KHSAA so they don't have to make a long trip to Lexington for the Sweet 16 every year. I'm sure the Regional Runner up is usually ecstatic they don't have to make that trip.

What does this have to do w doing it on back to back days?

Also, are you honestly comparing the Sweet 16 to a meaningless regular season game? By my count, NewCath football has made 3 7 hour round trips to Bowling Green. They seemed to enjoy those trips.

There would have been no expenses. Can't use that excuse.

Explain that? The only way to play this this weekend is back in Ashland. There is an expense.

It was mentioned that NKY teams hate to travel because they don't have to. And back to back days for a 2.5 hour trip? Oh the humanity!!!

I can pretty much guarantee if it had been Ashland's turn to make the trip to Newport, and they used a "back to back days trip excuse they would have been ridiculed to no end. And rightfully so.

Lexington is 1:15 for us so....

It's nothing against the fine folks around the state. It's simply a case of "why travel that far?" TWICE!

Plusses and minuses for every place you and I might choose to live. The plus for us in NKY is the lack of need to hit the road to find good games. High quality and low expenses.

No expense. Ashland was going to cover all expenses for the trip. What games were played at Newport's stadium yesterday?

Whatever floats your boat. I couldn't care if people on here see us as complainers. Also don't care about people around the state. Teams can only worry about themselves. As to the above, you answered my points like a tempestuous teenager. This has become like discussing things with my wife. If I don't agree, then I am either wrong or complaining. There wasn't an attempt to be rational in the thought process.

I'm the "tempestuous teenager"? That's the way people are reading the "5 hour trip" comments, repeated, repeated, repeated like if it's said enough everyone will believe it.

It would have been a lot better if you would have just said, "arrangements could not be made to make this game happen, unfortunate". But, instead it was "5 hour trip" on a "tour bus" "how terrible".

Yea, you don't care about what other people think, that's why you are defending NCC and it's fans on a website, another hollow passive aggressive argument.

The why travel? To play a football game. To get your kids a game experience. I'm willing to bet if you polled the NCC kids that they would have overwhelmingly voted to make the trip back to play Ashland.

I believe lawnboy said there were jfl games there yesterday afternoon. Not sure if it was all day/night event or not. Someone else mentioned something about NCC not having the keys to turn the lights on or something like that. I dunno, its getting confusing with all of the different inconveniences that kept the game from being played.

Correct because it was their only option.

I am saying there isn't the need to schedule the game in the first place.

Not from us.

Obviously someone in the administration thought it was a good idea. I'm sure Ashland didn't twist their arm and force them to schedule us.

The heat index would have stopped today's game

How many people does the Ashland swamp hold and what are they charging to get 25k vs NCC?

5 hours meaning 2.5 each way

NCC causes headaches and Kidney Stones

Putnam holds around 5,000, general admission tickets are $5.

Why do I keep getting this crap?

I am saying if I was king I would not schedule these games. Not worth the hassle.
