So it's over no game was played. Due to mother nature having the goo up here last night i doubt it they would have been able to get the game in up here in the Port. The Reds had a 2 hour or so rain delay (they are less than a 1.5m from Newport Stadium). The outcome can not be changed no matter what you think or may do. I think that if i was Ashland i would rather open a new stadium with a rival rather than a team i have only played once.

Insane. Sounds like NCC needs their own facilities then. If they can't practice and use the locker rooms what can they do? Other than ask if they can give Newport money so they can play a game on it. It seems like over time it would be cheaper and more convienient to just build their own facility.

 

You got the funds cause the Bishop ain't spending them. It is what it is. For 50 plus years NewCath has been lucky enough to rent Newport's field for a reasonable fee. Now that it is turf there are quite a few possible events there. Outside of high school there are 2 youth football leagues and soccer games. I am not privy to the calendar. There could have been nothing going on there. I don't know. That being said, until Phase 5 of the fund raising campaign is reality, they won't have their own field.

So is Covington Catholic the richest school in the area? Is NCC not having their own facilities simply a money issue? Do their freshman and JV teams also play at Newport?

 

Frosh and JV play every game on the road. They have a practice field at the school but not sure if it is 100 yards and it only has one goal post and no stands or scoreboard.

Also with the NCC District game against Newport, it is always a Home game for Newport.

Villa per capita is the wealthiest but CovCath ain't hurting. The Diocese has crapped on Northern Campbell Co for a long time. There is land at the bottom of the hill from NewCath that is prime Real Estate that the Diocese sold. That landlocked NewCath. The Diocese loves Kenton and Boone and all of their money. Campbell??? Ask the Bishop

I think Ashland and NCC have played 9 times, Ashland winning 7 of them. But I understand your point as to opening the stadium with a friendly rival. That said, we will still be a game short of our normal 10 game schedule.

Holy Cross has an off campus practice field that can host JV and Frosh and Middle schools games by using a portable clock that sits in a truck but they have to rent a field for Varsity games. St. Henry is, I believe the largest school without football in the state (580 students), Brossart has to rent a field for Varsity games (used to rent Newport Stadium too but had to play Sat afternoon games if Newport was at home on Friday and NCC on Saturday night.)

That's a shame, if true. Generally here a private school controls its own money I believe. I don't want to get into a religious battle, I just expected with how prominent football is in NKY, if the game couldnt be played in Ashland, it could be played up there somewhere with as many fields are in that area. I guess I just expected more facilities and cooperation from schools in that area.

With a 10 game season, and 10 games scheduled it would be nice to get 10 games in, especially if your in Ashland situation and just dropped a home game that probably would have netted $20k.. I imagine NCC will, if they take the offer from Ironton.

St Henry doesn't get lights without a big check from a booster or two. CCH raised a lot of money in 2001 and 2002 to get the turf installed. Still raising a lot of money through bingo to fund all of the athletics at CCH.
