Boss is correct. Check out what the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is saying:

Archdiocese: No ice bucket for ALS Association

You can do the challenge - they just want you to donate your money to send your money to a research group that won't be using embryonic stem cells (which are obtained from the bodies of aborted babies) for their research.

Cincinnati Archdiocese Freezes Catholic School Donations To Ice Bucket Challenge Charity - The Washington Post

"Archdiocese spokesman Dan Andriacco told the Cincinnati Enquirer that Catholic schools are still allowed to participate in the “ice bucket challenge,” the inescapable viral video sensation that challenges individuals to either dump a bucket of ice water on their heads or donate $100 to the ALS Association.

But the archdiocese wants Catholic participants to re-purpose the fundraising juggernaut by donating to a different research group — one the archdiocese believes is more in line with Catholic values."

Seems like they want it going to their own research group. The church not taking a stance on the Ice bucket challenge would have been my preferred response.

When you understand that the "Blessed Trinity" is beer, brats and bingo.

Ahhh, standing by and doing nothing. Playing Switzerland. Lot of good that did Pope Pius XII.

The Catholic Church is not known for not taking a stance on issues - particularly those involving the details surrounding abortion, science ethics, and whether or not the faithful of their church should put forth money to those things.

You do the Dave Concepcion routine when you step into the batters box?

You conduct your own "America's Top Model" contest judging all the ladies coming back from Communion.

Glad to know I'm not the only person doing this.

That poor man's reputation is so unfairly depicted it's heartbreaking. While not publicly condemning the German government (for fear of what would happen to Catholics in German-controlled areas), the pope hid Jews and other ethnic minorities from German and fascist officials all across Rome and elsewhere. He was given an award from the chief rabbi in Rome after the war and the two were friends until Pius died.

Then some years later a guy wrote a play that depicted Pius as an unfeeling near-ally of Hitler and the damage was done. For some people, the Catholic Church is a horrible organization and their decisions and movements are at best self-serving and at worst completely malicious.

You have a spreadsheet with Mass categories: shortest sermon, most crowded, most likely to have a Baptism, etc. :)

And you know that 7pm Sunday is your "last chance Mass".

And you are excited that your Parish has added a 6:00PM Sunday night Mass!

Been using it for years when we go out of town, great site.

I used it to find a mass in Nashville today. Turns out the oldest church in the city is St Marys of Seven Sorrows downtown. Very cool southern church. Great priest. Old school, though. No exchanging of peace during the Sign of Peace and we knelt for communion. Been a long time since I knelt for communion.

Sounds like my kind of place.

On holidays' date=' you pray for extra patience because the Chreasters have filled the pews and your family has to stand in the back.[/quote']

Reminds me of the leavers on Family Guy

Haven't knelt for communion since high school, always enjoyed jocking for position. :lol2:
