I give credit to Campbell County's recent success on the football field to Coach Lickert; Brossart kids have nothing to do with the equation.

 

You might need to explain what "lock down that school" means to me regarding St. Joe's. It may be a "feeder" school for Brossart but that doesn't mean St. Joe kids automatically have to attend Brossart.

On a side note - there is a sign in front of Pfermann's Floors (down the street from St. Joe's) for NCC Junior Football sign ups. Where is Brossart's sign??? This tells me all I need to know about how serious Brossart is about "locking down that school".

Cov Cath's enrollment has actually increased every year for the past three years- thus Moving to 5A.

 

Frankly, the population in southern Campbell isn't what it is in southern Boone- which is where some of the additional CCH enrollees are coming from.

Did you ever think that the real death sentence is that the kids in the program have heard adults from around the program constantly harp about the move to AA being a "death sentence".

 

I mean ... seriously .... it has to be hard for the kids to constantly hear how they were not good enough to compete in their truly aligned class.

You were moved there based on the number of boys in your school. But .. instead of embracing it ... you have people who come on the internet .. and who are in the community who speak about moving up as a "death sentence".

 

My opinion ... is that there was a huge amount of arrogance when Brossart added football. That arrogance seems to still continue ... based on moving back to Class A next year. There are a ton of posts on this site when the program was started ... that have always left a bad taste in my mouth (where I got the impression that Brossart thought that they would compete immediately--which is cool--and I dig the confidence--but it doesn't work anymore when people complain about the move to AA). I fully admit that I could have taken that the wrong way ... but it certainly made me shake my head.

 

For the sake of the program ... all the adults need to quit whining about AA. Freaking embrace it as opposed to constantly blaming the move.

 

I still think Brossart can have a great program someday. Dan Ridder is the type of leader who will work tirelessly to ensure that things are handled properly. And I seriously doubt if he will but up with anymore whining about AA.

Embrace it or not, it is the single significant factor that has led to our near demise. There are things that you can overcome and others that you can't. We were ill-prepared/positioned for a move to 2-A, and regardless of how legitimate, it has taken its toll on our numbers and our football program.

I think one thing that quickslick is getting at is how arrogant fans of Brossart acted once they did have some success, and I even remember seeing that on here. I am not saying it was you, but there were a lot of other Brossart posters back then and they were very arrogant and acting like the program had already become better than traditional programs such as Bellevue, Dayton and Ludlow and even acted like they were better that what Walton was becoming. That did leave a bad taste for people on how quickly fans became arrogant and for no reason, when in reality they still haven't done well even in the past few years against those same 1A schools.

 

I hope to see the Brossart program get on its feet because I too think it can be a good program eventually with the right coach and dedication in place. Can't give players or parents reasons why for failure, need to only be reasons why success can come.

I've been around this area and on this board for quite a few years; and aware of the BB football program from its inception; and I can't recall anyone on here crowing about their football program?? Even in its best years, they were merely competitive with the "River Schools" that make up the bulk of the NKY 1A district, and never close to Beechwood. Seldom even beat any of the next tier of programs below BW, and mostly split at best with Walton?? No clue where you read any "Arrogance" from any BB supporters, but I'd welcome an example.

 

BB has had significant success in most every other sports program they've offered over the years, and maybe even a few examples of arrogance from "fans" on here; but in football???? The Mustangs have gotten a bit of a bad rap for dominating the 10th region All "A" in a few sports, most significantly, basketball; and some have accused them of having an entitlement mentality in the "A" which I'd argue is coming from the BB side. However, having listened to their broadcasts and followed their football program; any semblance of "arrogance" is the farthest thing from the truth?? Even their most unrealistic supporters have realized they had a very long hill too climb in football.

One thing to remember is that this is not a great period of time to try and increase your roster size in football when you have an established successful Soccer program. Schools with established football programs won't have any problems, but the marginal programs might have a hard time in this era of concussion awareness of increasing roster size.

Ncc fans want Brossart to cancel the football program for Ncc's benefit. It has yet to have a negative effect on Ncc, but as long as Brossart is playing football, the threat is still there. I wish Brossart much success. It's only a matter of time until a group of a few kids that can actually really play impactful football get together and decide to build a legacy in the Brossart program and forego the opportunity of playing inner city small schools at Ncc.

I am not sure how far back these threads go that people can pull up, but I feel like if you go back and look at the threads from the two decent seasons they had. That you will see exactly what I am talking about. I also think if you can find members on this board who were on here back then from the river schools of Bellevue, Ludlow, and Dayton they would say the same thing. Their fans got pretty high and mighty pretty fast with a little success that year. Most of those posters for brossart have disappeared since the move to 2A though and no longer on here. Mustang has been on here through all that, and he was one of the few Brossart faithful on here that didn't get like that.

 

I also disagree with people on here saying they should do away with the program. There is potential still there to have a successful football program IMO.

Actually the Bearcats are 4-1 against the Mustangs. Walton won in 08, Brossart won in 09, and Walton won in 10, 11, and 12. We did not play in 2013.

I was just looking online, and KHSAA's website is still showing some openings in Brossart's schedule. Are they really still looking at an 8 game season (including one game against a non-KHSAA Pendleton County team)?

It was two exciting years for the program, especially after going 0-20 the first two varisty years. It wasnt an arrogance it was more hopefullness that they were heading in the right direction. The walton program was started the right way from the bottom up and i think that is one reason for their success. Where as brossart started from the top down and has hit a major speed bump.

 

As for 2A i wont blame the down turn on that alone but a brand new program like that the move to 2A knocked the wind out of the progam in a way. Our boys who were on the fence about playing football, seeing that the level of competion made a dramatic jump got scared and didnt play.
