I stopped drinking soda as a New Years Resolution and have lost 18 pounds (215 down to 197). I've not changed anything else about my diet and my exercise routine is about the same (limited) as it always was. Hard to believe one thing could make that much of a difference.

I've tried lately to avoid drinking calories, so I sweeten my Iced Tea with Splenda. :irked:

And I think a lot of people will have a hard time when they see #15.

Splenda sucks...try Equal or any of the generic Blue packages...MUCH better than Splenda.

I like Splenda okay, but I'll try the other just for you. :lol2:

Canned Tomatoes

Swordfish

Salmon

Bagels

Microwave Popcorn (Recently bought a small movie style popper!)

Are all officially on my do not eat list, 5 out of 22 gone...I'm feel 23% Healthier already!!!

May soon add Coke to the list except for special occasions!

No sources cited. I'm going to keep eating canned peaches and bacon.

And what's the point of living if you can't live with the occasional salmon lox bagel with a schmear?

I love canned peaches and pears. Always go with the light syrup and never drink the juice. If that kills me, what can I do. Not many alternatives to eat for lunch with my ham sandwich...oh weight, that was mentioned with the hotdogs.

Don't drink sodas

Rarely eat hot dogs

I love a cream cheese danish from time to time.

Rarely eat canned fruit

I don't do artificial sweeteners EVER.

I'm allergic to fish so I rarely eat it.

Prefer old fashioned popcorn. But in a pinch, when going to lunch is not an option, microwave popcorn keeps me from losing my mind to a grumbling stomach.

Swordfish-allergic as mentioned above

I use olive oil or butter.

I use very few condiments other than mustard, of which I have 9 different kinds in my fridge right now.

I have nothing against fried foods.

I have no idea whether many of my foods are GMO. I try to buy organic as much as possible. But unless I'm buying from the Amish, I'm just not 100% sure.

Similar as above with fruits. I just try to wash them well.

Yeah...I love bread...all bread. I probably wipe out all the good I do avoiding most other things on this list just with this one.

Or with Bacon.....

And milk...

But maybe I redeem myself again as I rarely eat junk food.

Or potato chips.

But I do use canned tomatoes.

But I don't eat frozen dinners

And I rarely eat donuts....but if I do, they are fresh, hot Krispy Creams...and they don't count. :D

And "low fat" isn't in my vocabulary.

It is amazing that a little change can do so much good. Awesome! Good for you!!

It seems that everything will pretty much give you cancer these days. If you don't get it from food, than it will come from your cell phone or the sun. I think I'm just going to do whatever makes me happy and accept the fact that someday I'm probably going to die from cancer.

Maybe white mice cause cancer and everything is really okay.

Milk? So all this time we've been encouraging children to fill their bodies with increased risks of heart disease, strokes, cancer, migraines, and arthritis?

The listing of bacon and milk here can be misleading. They are actually both very good for you but like all thing, they have to be in moderation. Bacon has good fats to it but should only about 2 strips should be eaten maybe once a week (not every day). Milk is also very good, high in calcium and other protein (actually known as an all natural post workout protein drink) but drinking whole milk all the time is where things could get to be too much. Whole milk is whole because it has all of the fats to it...when you are young, your body needs that but when you are older, you are able to ingest good fats in other ways, so skim milk should be used daily.

The whole issue w/ saturated fats was its links to high cholestorol. Aren't more and more studies pointing this out as a fallacy? Aren't they finding that high cholestorol is actually dictated by genetics?

Yes. Actually the original study used to link high fat diets/high cholesterol/ heart disease has been pretty much been proven false any way.

Actually the biggest issue with bacon is most store bought bacon has too much crap added. Nothing wrong with eating bacon several days per week or even every day. Just need to get natural bacon without the nitrates and other preservatives added. As for milk again nothing wrong with whole milk. It's actually better since it isn't as processed.

Correct. And I'm happy to report I am not genetically predisposed to high cholesterol.
