They have an early December matchup with defending State Champion Covington Catholic, match-up with Holmes (and West Virginia commit Beetle Bolden) in the Joe B. Hall Classic and travel to Henry Clay in January, then have Lafayette and Newport Central Catholic in mid-February.

 

What I am unsure of is what holiday tournaments Trinity will be playing in, as well as whether or not they have any big time games/events with out of state teams that will be able to get them the kind of exposure they need to get into the national rankings discussion.

Along with the players I've named above, it appears that the younger brother of Louisville signee Anas Osama Mahmoud, a 7'2 player with an impressive array of skills who was also a member of the Egypt's national team, will be enrolling at Trinity as well. This is a great question. Trinity seems poised to be the BGP Preseason #1 team. I'm interested in seeing how they will be perceived nationally. I'm still surprised they didn't win the Sweet 16. They looked awesome until they played CovCath. To think they bring back most of that team is scary. Ballard should be good but no way will they be expected to beat Trinity for the 7th Region title.

Not saying this just because you are a fan, but it'd be huge for their national ranking to see Spalding go up against a team with another high-major big and perform well against him. Any thoughts on who might be his toughest challenge in that regard?

 

I'll go ahead and qualify that by asking that if others chime in, let's try and keep Spalding's marquee match ups narrowed onto players with D1 potential at the very least (talking Bolden, Justice, Spalding level players). By that, I mean the type of talent that he'll only see once or twice a year and is the one that schools evaluating either him or the kid he goes up against will be sure to make their presence known at.

Trinity is loaded next year. Plain and simple.

I think the only person in Kentucky who will be able to stop Raymond Spalding next year will be Mike Szabo. Trinity didn't run much for him last year, and in fairness they have a lot of other weapons. However, I don't think Raymond's numbers will be as impressive as they might otherwise be because of the offense Trinity is likely to run.

It'll be interesting to see if and how Szabo changes things up next year. So much of the last few years, his system has been geared toward finding ways to frustrate an extremely talented Ballard squad. Now, in an interesting turn, Trinity looks to be the squad with more talent and skill next season. Szabo could find himself in a position to do some things a little differently.

 

Don't know if they'll be nationally ranked at all, but they'll be very good and are absolutely the pick to win the Seventh in 2015.
