Raymond is better than you or your children will ever be. He is getting recruited by top D1 programs, so review your facts before you start to tear him down.

I don't know where my or my children abilities have anything to do with this.

I am not tearing this kid down. He is a good player but in my opinion he is not a top 50 player in the country.

Respectable. I apologize, your children have nothing to with this conversation.

That one of the things that could ruin Raymond's future is if he get so full of himself that he thinks he doesn't have to work or his attitude changes.

Obviously you don't know Raymond because he's not the type of person to get full of himself. The only way his attitude will change is his approach to the game, becoming more confident and assertive.

Either that or he starts hearing lots of people telling him how great he is and that he doesn't really need to work at it. I've seen that so many times with basketball players where they get the "entourage" telling them what they want to hear. We'll agree on one thing, right now Raymond is not the type of person to get full of himself but he's still a teenager and can be swayed. It would be criminal if that happens.

That's what I'm trying to tell you, no one in our family tells him how good he is. He would never hear that from us. We only talk of ways to improve.

Xavier, Vandy, and Clemson recruiting him shows to me he is not in the top 50 or 75.

Xavier signed Trevon Bluiett and the other finalist was Michigan State (UCLA was his original verbal). That is Xavier's 3rd Top 50 kid in the last 6 years.

It's not as hard as y'all think to get nationally ranked IF rivals is still putting out their top 100 rankings, the top ranked team in KY has been ranked by that list very consistently. I remember in 2010 (I think I have the right year) they even had 4 KY teams ranked at 1 point; Eastern with Abell top 30, J-town with Price top 50, and then LexCath and Tates Creek ranked in the 80s.

Unfortunately I do not think they put that list out anymore. That makes it harder as other sights don't seem to value KY bball as much.

Which is good for Xavier but most players they recruit are not top 50

That is Xavier's 3rd Top 50 kid in the last 6 years.

Not sure that helps make your point in this context. Given the number of kids X has signed in the last 6 years, landing 3 top 50 kids is not exactly a high percentage. They tend to operate in the 75-150 range which is where I think Spaulding stands unless he shows he can play with more effort every time out...

With all due respect, I'm not talking 89th here. I'm talking about legitimately ranked in the top 25.

With that logic, I guess everyone is ranked,,,,somewhere.

The point is there are no absolutes when working backwards regarding the quality of recruits. Elite players go to odd schools (SMU and Seton Hall come to mind) and elite programs recruit kids that aren't currently as highly ranked based on how they think they'll project. To speak in terms of absolutes is crazy, and I agree with your earlier comment, these guys miss ALL of the time (as evidenced by the number of transfers growing).
