First off, please refrain from calling me a fan of any T program. Secondly I have no clue about the their team endeavors I've only spoken with him in regards to AAU.

Sorry, I meant a fan of Spalding. I should have been more clear.

I don't think anyone is confusing you with a Trinity homer though. Wrong shade of green and not enough gold (maybe even a few more all time wins in football). :thumb:

If you do hear anything about who they schedule, be sure to let us all know. I'm sure they'll have some tough competition as they always have in the past.

Gotcha.

What do you conisder to be Nationally ranked? Did we consider Ballard nationally ranked last year?

Its possible that all five starters will have some form of D1 offers, I would think they would be mentioned nationally.

ESPN Rise or USA Today rankings. That or something similar. Top 50 type team in the nation ranked by a reputable source.

I'm not sure if Ballard was ranked last year. One team that I can think of that was would be like the '98 Lexington Catholic one (I think they were way up there at one point).

Some other teams in Kentucky that I'd say were either nationally ranked, or would have been nationally ranked if the publications had been around then and were as prevalent as they are today:

Scott County teams w/ Jones, Hamilton, the year after they won State;

Lexington Catholic team w/ Green, Graham, Smith, etc.;

Male teams w/ O'Bannon, Bush, Carter, Mathies, Shumate, etc.;

Ballard last season w/ Snider, Martin, Dowe, etc.;

Sometimes, a big part of those rankings are more based on hype and the type of talent you have going to play D1 and/or just playing other big time teams or in huge events.

It really helps if you have a kid who is a big time prospect like Spalding is who'll get you headlines wherever you play and is known to fan bases in other areas because of where they'll be playing later. I'd even say that its' possible that, because of the format that Kentucky has, some of these schools, as you can often see, don't even end up winning State (or even their own region).

I think the Louisville Eastern team with Remy Abell, Kameron Woods and crew was ranked at some point. I also remember the Matt Walls/Bud Mackey Scott County team to be ranked.

Good calls on both. I was thinking of Eastern and thought of the wrong year (was thinking the year when Abell was a sophomore maybe and they drew the 13th in the 1st Round). I watched them on film and could tell Abell was going to be real.

An aside...who amongst us old timers, especially Trinity posters EVER thought there'd be a thread titled as this one is that didn't refer to football. :D

Wasn't the state championship(basketball team) ranked like top 50 in the country?

I tend to think they'll at least be nationally ranked in some of the polls. Especially those that have a top 50 & probably even in the top 25 of most polls. I don't think they'll be top 10 at least to begin with. All of that depends on their strength of schedule, tourneys they play in, invitationals etc...If they have a strong schedule and are successful at most of those then they could realistically move into the top 10. Will be interesting for sure. Hope they play somewhere I can either go see them (City of Palms) or that shows their games online. Always enjoy watching Szabo's teams play.

I wonder how many of you folks look at the high school ranking polls. Have you ever really looked at the rosters and at the schedules?

I do indeed.

And you think Trinity will
