June 6, 201412 yr From the video: "These type of attacks happen about 4 times a year in Hamilton County." (That's 4 times too many.) Video says the dogs got out through a hole in the fence. Another dog was found inside. Why do these people have multiple pitbulls?

June 6, 201412 yr The owner needs to be charged with attempted murder. These dogs had to be trained to act like this. Makes you wonder if her was fighting them or just tossed a bunch in a pen and neglected them. Either way there needs to better regs about responsible dog ownership.

Pit bulls accounted for 59% followed by rottweilers with 14%. Of the 88 fatal dog attacks recorded by DogsBite.org, pit bull type dogs were responsible for 59% (52). This is equivalent to a pit bull killing a U.S. citizen every 21 days during this 3-year period. The data also shows that pit bulls commit the vast majority of off-property attacks that result in death. Only 18% (16) of the attacks occurred off owner property, yet pit bulls were responsible for 81% (13).

June 6, 201412 yr How terrifying that must have been for her and her brother who witnessed the attack. I volunteer at a local animal shelter and the ONLY breed I ever think twice about handling/walking is the pit bull.
June 6, 201412 yr They said she is in an induced coma. They had to sew an eye shut because the muscle no longer works. Her tongue was also removed. Jaw almost completely detached. I am SO sick of people who own pit bulls talking about how gentle and loving they are. They account for a majority of dog related injuries, and it's time to accept that. If you need to post article and support groups all over facebook to convince people, that probably tells you something. I don't have regularly post articles about the misconceptions of my english bulldogs.
June 6, 201412 yr First, terrible about the little girl. About pit bulls, I'll never convince anybody about how they are and can be normal pets, so I won't waste my time. All I'll say is I've been around plenty of them, and NONE of them were threatening in the slightest. It's all about how they are raised and trained. You can train any big dog to be vicious... Pit bulls get the bad rap because of their size and because of people using them to fight.
June 6, 201412 yr I agree with much of what deuce said in his post, but was told once by a vet I'm very close to that pitbulls and chows are the most common breed to turn on their owner, regardless of how they'be been trained. I guess if confronted by one I'd have to accept the consequences of putting a slug in it.
