June 6, 201412 yr Don't take this the wrong way, but what were they doing to get bit in the face? One was laying on the floor and I guess the dog didn't like they way she was looking at him and snapped at her and got her in the face. The other one was playing in the backyard, running around and the dog tackled him and bit him in the face released him and got another bite in before he took off. Thank God he released both times or he would of ripped the side of his face off.

June 7, 201412 yr Let me add if your dog can get over the fence build a taller fence or get rid of the dog. I have been charged by "friendly" dogs while walking to many times. I have ZERO sympathy for the dog owner and even less understanding for the people who "just let my boy out for some exercise for a few minutes". If your dog can't get enough exercise on a leash or in your yard get a bigger yard or a smaller dog. And for the record I'm not a dog hater. My cousin owns 2 large dogs and fosters another and I have no problems with them at all. They love me (as evidenced by Brooks' licking) and I play with them all the time.
June 7, 201412 yr My brother-in-law had a sweet, beautiful pit and even though he was a sweet as sugar he scared the hell out of me. I've been sick since I heard the initial report and the cop who arrived on the scene said it was the worst thing he had witnessed in 10 years on the force. I just don't understand how some treat dogs, they are a major responsibility and most just want them as a status symbol and it makes me sick.

When I was in college I worked 2 summers as a community health worker for the Northern Kentucky Independent District Health Department. Part of my job was to view dogs that had bitten people to make sure they were not rabid and then to give their owner a 10 day quarantine notice. Very often I would knock on the door only to hear a dog trying to tear the house down to get at me. Without fail the owner would open the door and inform me that he/she wouldn't bite....I guess I was there for my health. The health inspectors would work about 4 or 5 dog bites a week but in the summer when kids got out of school that would move to 4 or 5 a day with 10 or 15 waiting on Monday morning.
June 7, 201412 yr I had an American bulldog. We spoiled this dog as much as any diff could be spoiled. Spent nearly 3 thousand dollars on training for this dog. One night, she nipped at me. Two days later, she jumped a 4 foot tall fence and bit the mailman (who admitted he reached over the fence to try to pet her) He instigated it, and insisted so, we let it go. A week later, family party at my house she goes up to and sniffs my brother in law, and proceeds to tear his arm open from elbow to wrist. The dog was put down the next day. This thing just snapped. We had her from6 weeks. She was three when she snapped. We provided everything an owner of one of these dogs should do, it didn't matter.
