I think Evan Hall might be most underrated of all but I agree on Taylor and Tyler too. I've been singing all their praises this week.

Played one week end with them and absolutely filled it up..his main team is Hoop Dreams. I assume he was simply with them that week end because Hoop Dreams wasn't playing. Kid is a gym rat and will play anytime he gets the opportunity.

 

Mark it down...by the time his senior season rolls around, he will be regarded as one of the best scorers in the state. He is going to be a problem for teams this season.

No way. Evan Hall almost made the BGP team this season and there was plenty of discussion regarding him being on the team over Carson Williams and others. I've seen Hall discussed by plenty outside of his regional supporters. He made a name for himself at the Republic Bank Classic at LexCath over the Christmas holidays.

Myself as well. I was talking about him being underrated before they played Clay County in the State Tournament... in 2013.

 

I almost see Hall as a kid who was so underrated that people started noticing and commenting on him to the point that he almost became a bit overrated.

 

Don't get me wrong, he's a good kid that I'd take on my team any day at the high school level, but I'm not really sure if you could really call him underrated without defining what you really mean by 'underrated'.

 

If it's statewide exposure, I'd think his schedule and being in Rupp 2 straight years has gotten him that.

 

If I were going to pick a more underrated kid than Hall just from the first round game of his Sweet 16 matchup this year, I'd probably pick the older Ayers kid (or maybe even the younger one, though he does have a good bit of fanfare from those who follow the youth level & AAU levels throughout the State).

 

The older of the Ayers kids wasn't even rated as one of the top 10 players in the 4th coming into the season (here), but I thought he had just as much of an impact, if not more, than Hall in their matchup (here).

He is getting better defensively. He plays in a "pro league" up at Summit Country Day on Tuesday nights against former and current D1 and overseas guys and more than holds his own at both ends.

 

I watched him drop 15 in about 5 mins this past Tuesday against a team that consisted of Nick Ruthsatz (Covcath to D2 Findlay), Nick Fredrick (Current Bellarmine sophomore to be), Quinton Chames (Holmes to Cincy St next year), Marcus Hill (Holmes to Cincy St next year), and Drew Shelton (Cooper big man last year, now at Cincy Christian).

Ethan is a great kid and as Coach Scott told me on Monday is a "cold blooded mother. ..." haha. He's been a great asset to our 16u team. He and his dad are good people and hilarious to be around. Ethan has a bright future in basketball when he adds some bulk.

Dawson Cooper - Robertson County (great, great scorer)

Dorian Henry - Mason County (should become more dominant with Shawn Johnson graduating)

Blake Schneider - Scott (will be one of the 10th's top guards if he stays healthy)

D.J. Jenkins - Harrison County (really smooth guard who should get statewide attention next year)

Austin Crawford - Bracken County (best scorer in the 10th & will be a sophomore)

Camryn Snapp - Augusta (understandably overshadowed by Bach, but love his versatility)

Damion King - GRC (plays bigger than his small frame; does everything well)

Not much said on here of any 16th Region players and while it may be a bit down, there are a couple players that would fit this thread perfectly:

Ryne Callahan (Rowan County)

Nick Miller (Ashland)

Jair Jackson (Greenup)

All three are great ball players who don't get much press.

I'll also add that Evan Hall made the Ky Junior All Star team. That's not underrated.

Evan Hall is stud. Period! Athletic, strong and very aggressive. When he dunks it looks like he wants to break the backboard and rim. IMO he isn't underrated but I think he is one of the top 10 players in KY.

Not a knock but he will need to work to harness the aggressiveness. It gets him into foul trouble when he just muscles to the basket and knocks players down. Wayne County did a great job of getting in front of him. They dont call those fouls in AAU ball but they do in KHSAA.

I've seen King, Henry, Schneider, and Henry....like all of their games.

 

I'm really high on Henry. Very fun to watch.
