I can't foresee any scenario where CovCath has a para-professional for a head basketball coach.

ok, maybe 'in the ring' was the wrong wording. Why on this thread that is discussing "if" Coach R leaves who might replace him, isn't Matt Otte's name been mentioned?

 

Matthew is a great basketball mind that had nice career at Bellarmine, has the pedigree, but I am not sure if he is seasoned enough for that chair right now. I remember the day he was born, his father was my coach. I could not be happier if he would get the gig.

 

Joe Fredrick is my man, he would be my personal choice. His ceiling his high rather he chooses college or high school. If they hire Joe, I'll be his biggest fan.

 

Tony B is the right fit if Scott leaves. Joe could work for Tony during the CVH years or until he gets an itch to go elsewhere. I think you lose Tony in the near future if he gets passed over, along with being a full time teacher.

 

Hopefully, Scott stays and this is good fill in time until we get football season!

I could see Joe Fredrick getting an opportunity, and if anyone is worth setting aside the requirement to hire a teacher, it would be him. The players clearly gravitate to him, he was a star at Notre Dame, has been quite generous to the program as I understand it, and probably has the most hoops credibility of anyone in northern KY. If I'm a principal / super in northern KY, I'm begging him to come run my program.

The last coach was let go because it was time for him to go. This scenario is nothing like the last one. And the way the last coach has been acting it was clearly the right choice.

This has all been in the works. Tony B left a good job at TQL to get back into teaching knowing full well that Scott was leaving and you have to be a teacher at CCH to be considered for the head job. Tony B doesn't leave a great job at TQL unless he knows this going to happen. Tony B teaches there now and if things worked out (as they have) the job is his. Tony will have Scotts recommendation for the position. Tony was varsity assistant head coach so to speak this year. Will be an easy transition. Pretty sure all the rest of the coaches will stay on Tonys staff. Tony is well thought of at CCH and has done a good job. Ladies and gentleman meet the new CCH head coach, Tony B.

Good luck Scott and thanks for everything. Great guy, great family guy, great coach. We were lucky to have had him.

Is there such thing as a great job at TQL? Lol Sure if you like working 90 hrs a week and on every holiday. 70% turnover rate there saw the numbers. But Carry on.....

This is all speculation it seems. I, for one, would like to see him stay. He is an outstanding coach in a group of outstanding coaches in NKY. Like most, he will make the best decision for his family, I would assume. Unless he is on the Findlay staff, if he were a coach at a high school next door to there, the time demands and schedule would really limit how much he could see Nick play. He could probably stay at CCH and see him about as much.

 

The convos about replacement are really premature.
