Congrats to the Colonels!

I thought it was fitting yesterday that it was almost 10 years to the day that Warren Central knocked CovCath out in the semis that CovCath knocked out the 4th Region rep Bowling Green. Then the Colonels finished the job they didn't back then. I thoroughly enjoyed that CovCath team in '04, and I'm happy to see they won today.

Come on Clyde NAIA kid can play he had one bad game and he drops to NAIA. He can play D1 and I hope he does to shut u up.

 

In the little I saw him before I never once thought D1. Too small. Handle isn't strong enough. Will struggle against stronger players.

 

It's not a shot at him. He's a GREAT high school player.

 

I hope , too, that he shuts me up.

Who do you think is the toughest region? The 9th has an argument to make in that regard.

 

Theoretically, you can "argue" for any region. The 6th was probably the most balanced, but the 7th has to be the toughest.

Agree on how you measure. The 9th's argument would be 2 other teams at the top who could have made the same type of run.

Congrats to Cov Cath. They played their hearts out and totally earned the win. Great defense on Gilbert really rattled him more than I have ever seen.

 

Even with his poor shooting, for him to miss two free throws, both on the front end of 1+1 was shocking.

Ruthsatz leads Covington Catholic to KHSAA boys’ title

 

 

"LEXINGTON, Ky. – Nick Ruthsatz got the last laugh.

 

Critics said — at 5 feet 9 — he was too small to make an impact. Others wrote him off after he signed with Findlay, an NCAA Division II school in Ohio.

 

“Well,” Ruthsatz said, “I just won a state championship.”

 

And he did it with flair.

 

Ruthsatz scored 16 of his game-high 25 points over the fourth quarter and overtime as Covington Catholic High School rallied to beat Scott County 59-51 in Sunday’s final of the Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Sweet 16 in front of 14,165 fans at Rupp Arena."

I think he (Gilbert) was exhausted, mentally & physically. Late in the game & overtime I saw him repeatedly lose the handle on the ball when pressured. He tried to do too much which often has the results you saw today. I felt even his teammates resisted passing him the ball late in the game because they had lost faith in his judgment. The one time I saw him dish out a good pass from a drive was when he was called for a charge, otherwise is was pretty well all Gilbert, all the time, when he had the ball. Even the best need to learn when to give it up and rely on their teammates that helped get them to that point.

 

Prior to today's game, he was the man - among the best in point guard play.

Congrats to CCH I was pulling for you. So glad billy hicks didn't win it.

"LEXINGTON – Nick Ruthsatz made sure the chance his father Scott took eight years ago to move his family from their roots in Sandusky, Ohio to New Jersey to be an assistant basketball coach at a prestigious prep power and then eventually to Covington Catholic to become head basketball coach paid off for both of them.

 

Ruthsatz shook off a dismal first-half performance to score Covington Catholic's final 10 points of regulation to force overtime, then had six of the Colonels' first eight points in overtime to practically will his team to its first Boys' Sweet 16 State Basketball Tournament championship in school history, 59-51 over Scott County on Sunday in Rupp Arena."

Congrats to Cov. Cath! How bad was Billy Hicks ripping the officials? I was listening to a little of semis last night and guys doing the game on radio were talking about how he (Hicks) ripped the officials about every single call. Just wondering?

He's the biggest crybaby I've ever seen. Whines and cries about every call. Embarrassing.
