Covington Catholic 59 Scott County 51 OT (Sweet 16 Championship)

Two years in a row that the championship game was great. This was even better since I follow Cov. Cath. all year. Cvh defense early was great he never allowed Gilbert to get into a rythem. I'm really looking forward to the rest of his years playing.

Heading to Buffalo Wild Wings with PP92 Jr. to pick up dinner.

Thank you to all of those who followed us here on BGP. It was our pleasure to provide you guys the updates for the 2014 Sweet 16. We look forward to seeing you guys again next year.

On behalf of Purple Parker productions we'd like to say once again, congrats to CovCath and thank you all for coming out, good night and God bless.

Drive home safely!!!

Great job guys. :ylsuper:

Let's not go overboard. Hicks is a good coach who works the refs. You don't see him getting T's. I think his record speaks for itself. He's a very good basketball coach, point blank, period.

Accomplishments:

- 2 KY State Championships

- 5 KY State Finals Appearances

- Coached the McDonald's All-American Team

Not a bad resume. Let's be real. He wasn't the coach of the better team tonight, but you'd be crazy to say you wouldn't want him on your sideline.

the poster didnt say anything about his record. He said he is a cry baby (which he is), said he whines and cries about every call (which he does) and Embarrassing (which he should be). I feel for his assistant coach whom he cries to on every call. They guy just looks at him like he is nuts. A bit to theatrical.

S/O to Hepp for getting the S16 academic award.

Congrats Covington Catholic! STATE CHAMPS AND WELL DESERVED!

Come on Clyde NAIA kid can play he had one bad game and he drops to NAIA. He can play D1 and I hope he does to shut u up.

No way he is a div 1 player. Not a chance. He was silenced today by a 16 year old freshman. End of story.

......

What a weekend, wow. I don't know how many miles I put on my truck, or how much gas I've burned, but I wouldn't trade this weekend with my son for anything. He managed to also squeeze in soccer wins over a couple of KY Fury teams, and an AAU game this morning. The look on his face after Hepp's breakaway was priceless. What a game, what a weekend, what a season....I couldn't be happier for all of these boys and the Coaching Staff.

Hats off to the Martini kid from Scott Co, he was AWESOME today. I could watch that kid work all day.

I've been to several CovCath football state championship games, as well as Final Fours and World Series games, but for this lifelong CovCath fan, today may have been my favorite. Winning that tournament, in this state, on that floor...it doesn't get any better than that.

Plus, I met Randy Parker. Truly the cherry on the sundae (ice cream reference).

Congrats CC great job!

Congrats to the Blue Colonels.

Nick Ruthsatz is a special player and his Dad is a great coach. Mark Schult played a heckuva tournament as well and there is no doubt in my mind that he is a man.

It was a lot of fun following the Colonels this weekend and I called it earlier before the season started. I told everyone they were my sleeper team and they didnt disappoint. In fact they exceeded my expectations by taking the state crown.

The 9th Region should be proud, Holmes, NCC, CovCath and Dixie are all teams that I think could play with all of the teams across the state.

A great weekend for the state of KY !!!

So a 19 year old senior was silenced by a 16 year old freshman??? Both guys are two year holdbacks?

He's the biggest crybaby I've ever seen. Whines and cries about every call. Embarrassing.

I wasn't able to make the tournament this year, had family members go to all the games up to the semis. They said the same thing, he moaned and cryed about every call from the tip til the last whistle. He did the same couple years ago when Trinity beat them for state, all the way up to the final seconds, and they where getting soundly beaten. Would think officials would get tired of it, and T his butt up.

I feel bad for Gilbert. As great as he was in carrying them past Trinity, he just could not do much right today.

That young man is a tremendous player. He was fun to watch.

Cole turned 15 in November.

Both guys are eligible by KHSAA rules. Next.
