CVG can play D1 but Gilbert can not am I missing something here.

Obviously at least one D1 coach thinks I'm wrong about Gilbert. As I said , I hope he shuts me up. I hope he fulfills his dreams and gets a great education.

I'm interested to see where he ends up in the 1000 point club for Cov Cath....or if there's potential for Cole to start the 2000 point club. He pulled off nearly 400 points as a freshman. Four 400 point years would place him as the third highest all time scorer for Cov Cath, behind #1 Nick Ruthsatz, and #2 Andy Listerman. Assuming his scoring improves as Cole matures....and without Ruthsatz around, it's gonna be REALLY interesting to see how many points he racks up.

Yes it will. I think he has 381 now. Nice start.

Once again a poster not knowing the facts. Long has played basketball for 3 years total. He is only 15, he needs to get in the weight room and get strong and become more explosive. He will improve and he did improve all year long. You can tell by watching him he is awkward in his body. As time and work happens he will develop and be a good player. He totally effected the big kid from Trinity that everyone raved about after the Hoptown game. Rae will be fine. I feel like they did not look at him enough yesterday which could have helped with an inside out game to free up the shooters for Scott Co.

We agree. Big long kids take a long time to develop their game. You can see he's going to have good size and strength. Nice frame already. It's not easy developing your game with a 7-foot body. It takes time. Footwork is so important and it's one of the hardest aspects of the game for young big kids to pick up. It will come.

I was surprised the big kid didn't get more PT. I thought he played fairly well and created a lot of problems for the Colonels.

I will never go to a Sunday afternoon Final

Who cares?

CVG would be an airport located in Florence, Ky.

What you are missing is that Cole is a 15 year old freshman who will improve every year and that Gilbert is a one man show who doesn't make his team better around him like Cole. Gilbert can shoot. Thats it. Cole will be light years ahead of where Gilbert is now.

Yesterday we were at Chick Fil A in Lexington and there was a high school basketball team there when we arrived. All the players were very respectful young men and were even sweeping the floors, picking up trash and helping other customers before they left. Just saw on the news where they won the State Championship today, congrats Covington Catholic. You deserve your on court success because of your character off of it.

How many varsity points did Cole score at Villa Madonna last year as an 8th grader? Wouldn't those points count towards his varsity total?

That's too bad. The last two Sunday finals have produced two unforgettable games.

So true. Spalding never got comfortable offensively against Long and I thought that was the best game that I have seen Long play all season and I watched him about 7 or 8 times this season. Once he develops more of a low post game and learns to play with his body he should be fine. I didn't know he has only been playing 3 years. I see tons of upside if he can continue to improve and learn the game properly.

I'd argue that Spalding isn't that much farther ahead of Long offensively.

Pure speculation on my part but he may get winded quicker than other players and once he gets winded he becomes more foul prone than what he already is.

I hope he developes to be Mr Basketball however 3 years is long enough to learn fundamentals and sure enough time to lose the bad attitude. This is coaching problem.

Never once have I sensed a bad attitude with Long.
