You didnt see that on CCH sidelines. Those kids would run through a brick wall for not just their head coach but every asst on the staff. All are well liked. The staff they have put together is very special. They work together well.

I was a fan of Mike Listermans but you never saw the respect you see today back when he coached the kids. Lots of pouting, not giving hand slaps as they came off the court, on and on.

Coach Ruthsatz has created a monster and Coach B has some big shoes to fill.

He will do fine.

Your statement was that you never saw an instance of Long having a bad attitude. IMO Long has a bad attitude. As far as others go, it is a sad state of affairs when the players are permitted to talk back to their coach.

 

I saw a lot of instances of coaches not being in charge of their programs this week. Jump passes, Pull up J's at first opportunity, no weakside help, Fouls committed 80 feet from their opponent's basket, attempts to constantly block shots, poor clock managment, etc. etc. Goes to show that talent will overcome mediocre coaching, and if these guys have good records they are perceived as good coaches.

 

I hope you are not referring to Billy Hicks. If you have not been to one of his practices you have no clue. He is non stop fundamentals. It is a constant regimen of drill work. He works the kids butts off on fundamentals. Now his antics on the sideline may not set well with others but his record is because he is a great coach of the game. I will agree I saw some bad mistakes by KIDS all week long.

I agree 100 %. I told someone I loved that every time a sub came in the game whoever was coming out ran off the court and all the way down the bench slapping hands with all players. Coach has created a great culture there and Coach B will be charged with maintaining that culture but if you are correct about the kids and their respect for the assistants then that should not be a problem. This team was great to watch all week as well as their student section.

Tuition usually helps create a certain culture all by itself.

 

Long came a long way with his play and with his attitude this year. If you don't know where he started, it might not seem like it, but a LOT of improvement was made in both areas.

CovCath made 47.5 percent of its field-goal attempts (87-for-183), including 42 percent of its three-pointers (23-for-55), and 74 percent of its free throws (84-for-114). The other 15 teams combined to shoot 41 percent from the field, 31 percent on threes, and 68 percent from the foul line.

 

 

 

Last week's Sweet Sixteen had more whistle stops than usual as more fouls were called than in any state tournament in the last 20 years. After the 2012 Sweet Sixteen was marred by physical play, KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett pushed to tighten up the officiating and clean up the games. The referees got the message. In the 2013 Sweet Sixteen, more fouls were called and more free throws attempted than in a long time. This year a total of 632 fouls were called and there were 759 free throws, 209 more than in 2012, and more than in any tournament in at least 20 years.

I may not be entirely correct, but CCH's historically assigned district includes Catholic grade schools from Ft. Wright, Ft. Mitchell, Edgewood/Crestview Hills, Crescent Springs/Villa Hills and I believe Ludlow too. I know the starting five are all from parishes within CCH's historically assigned district.

The majority of kids who live in the city of Covington are in a the Holy Cross district.

Can't wait to watch CVH these next few years. He was recently offered by Winthrop and Northern Kentucky.

According to nkysports.com, Cole had 375 points at Villa during his 8th grade season. Add that to his 381 CCH points (per Clyde) this year and he should go over 1,000 career points during his sophomore season. I'll be surprised if he doesn't score more than 2,000 points in his career.

 

I just want to verify if I am understanding this correctly,,CVH did not come via the CCH feeder schools, but by way of Villa. I thought from previous posts that all the players , except Ruth, were out of the feeder schools..
