Hey I really like NKY... It's just not Louisville. :D

Thank God! :D

I would have more of a connection w/ Kentucky as a state if my family came up here from the more southern areas. However, they came here from Dayton and Cincinnati. Our roots are up here. That being said. After reading, "Days of Darkness" about the blood wars in Appalachia, I have become really interested in other things in the state. I've also begun a new interest in the distilling of whiskey, purely interest only not practice. Those things have opened me up to more of the state. Before that it was just Christmas in Louisville and the Sweet 16 in Lexington and the rest of the state may as well be Tennessee.

From afar in deep WKY, NKY seems like its a million miles away. So far away that the only time I ever give NKY a thought would be in football when we play Beechwood. In college everyone I met from there was like anyone from anywhere else but a few seemed more northern in their ways than what I would see from people in most other areas of the state. In sports, from yearly clashes with Beechwood in football I found the Beechwood fans on here to be more knowledgeable than most and very nice though the knowledgeable part of it is likely due to the programs success rather than being because they are in NKY. On the football board I have found a lot of NKY posters, outside of the Beechwood posters, to often be arrogant and seem to feel that they play better football there than elsewhere though after numerous defeats to my Cards most are no longer arrogant. Now how this translates outside of this board is unknown to me given WKY and NKY rarely ever cross paths. I personally dislike the EKY fans the most, to me it seems they are the most die hard and act like they have a chip on their shoulder in all sports from the adults on down. Not necessarily a bad trait but it just rubs me wrong.

1. There is definitely a bias against NKY and Louisville from the rest of the state. That is not in question.

2. NKY'ers think their stuff doesn't stink. Also not in question. :lol2:

No question that they think that, or no question that it doesn't stink? Cause I'm here to tell you, I used the bathroom up there in Florence area places of business before and...........WHEW!:poop: I think it's actually worse! Must be all that Cincinnati chili and coneys they all eat.:idunno:

 A BGP "Guide" should show a better example than to make that kind of a generalization!

Hey, you know us guides...we are bound by BGP law to speak the truth. So if I say it, it HAS to be true.

Uh, my stuff stinks as bad as ANYONE'S from "down state"!

Nearly everyone from NKY I've ever met locally during tourist season will say they are from Cincy, when I ask where since I have family in Cincy, they almost seemed ashamed to admit they live on this side of the river and not in Cincy.

I know several BGPers that are proud to be from NKY and will quickly point out they live on this side of the river, but the majority that I have ever met are the exact opposite.

Then you haven't met anyone I know that lives in NKY. THis is a gross exaggeration.

, it showed the 2002 Ryle team at the Sweet 16, the opposing coach's pre game speech (paraphrasing) was to beat the kids with money because they live close to the airport, so you know they have money. I still do know what that means.

!

I grew up "by the airport." Had no money.

I'd say the people that say "Cincinnati" did not grow up in NKY ie my wife who is from Pittsburgh. Anyone I know who did grow up says something like "NKY - right across the river from Cincinnati" just to give them a mental map visual.

I don't want anyone to get the impression from my posts about dialect and regional differences that I have a bias of any kind against Northern Kentucky. I love visiting that area when I go up for a few days in the summer to see my relatives, of which I've got quite a few in Northern Ky. I've always been treated with kindness and respect wherever I go when there, in businesses, golf courses, restaurants, movies, etc. I always have a good time and look forward to going back.

Just had to get that off my chest. No bias here, with sports or anything else. Actually, I can't wait to see and hear the CovCath pep section. I was really impressed with them the last time they were in the tournament.

That's what I say, and I'm born & bred in NKY.

Same here. Lived my whole life in NKY. Always have said "Cincinnati".

Lived in NKY my whole life, just north of Lexington!! I prefer not to say, Cincinnati!
