Duke with 7 losses, UK with 8 losses

Featured Replies

I wish I could go back and find everyone who, after the WKU/UK football game, told me "just wait until basketball season."

No, YOU WAIT UNTIL BASKETBALL SEASON!

Duke deserves a ranking of about 10-13. The voters were drunk or something the day they voted after the Syracuse loss, and them being over-ranked was a result. They'll be the lowest 2 or highest 3 seed in the tournament, which is exactly where they belong.

As for UK, how they're still ranked after that embarrassing week last week is a greater mystery to me than how Duke moved up after a loss. :idunno:

Pro-UK bias in the media.

Very true ;)

The biggest thing is every other team losing around them. And not just teams around UK, every team loses. You go on a two week long winning streak and you can jump 7-10 spots in the polls.

Duke is #8 in the RPI and UK is #17.

I'd say that's fairly close to accurate, maybe a touch high for UK. The RPI certainly has flaws, but metrics like the RPI at least use season-long information, something the polls are often shockingly lacking in (i.e., Villanova ranked over Creighton even though Creighton has won the two meetings by a combined 49 points!)

Duke is #8 in the RPI and UK is #17.

I think that is an accurate difference between the two teams yet UK is projected as a 6 or 7 and Duke a 2.

Yet Duke will still probably get a #1 seed even though they only have 1 less loss than UK. UK ranked 25th Duke ranked 4th. Someone please explain why Duke annually stays in the top 10 while losing as many games as teams out of the top 25?

Duke 4th in top 25, yet they are 4th in the ACC. How does that happen?

This season U.K.'s play imo hasn't been on the level of Duke but I know and agree with what you are saying. As a U.K. fan, I will say that meeting Duke in the NCAA this year would not bother me at all.

As for your question, I believe that you answered it yourself when you said "Duke", :idunno: :D

If the ACC is the 3rd or 4th best conference, who is ranked ahead of it?

College basketball has been a mess this year. This is a season about who has the worst loses, not best wins. UK has worse losses than Duke. And a lot of Dukes losses are better than most teams. It's been that kind of season this year.

If the ACC is the 3rd or 4th best conference, who is ranked ahead of it?

This year, without question, the B1G and the Big 12....

I'm not saying Duke doesn't have a better resume than UK. I think just about everyone has a better resume than UK. But if Duke is a top 5 team, than I was Shirley Temple's lover.
