March 8, 201412 yr This thread is hysterical now. The great Duke argument we get to create an imaginary line and anything before that line doesn't count t because we say so. Listen Duke is a great program I will never dispute that I'm not a Duke hater. But it seems petty to try and set an imaginary line and discount everything before for no other reason than for some reason you find basketball before this line to be inferior . I've always said while wins and titles seperate UK from most programs that isn't a true measure of a program . The stat I always quote is 5 different coaches have won titles at UK . This isn't a one program coach and continues to win throughout almost every decade. No one coach defines UK. UK isn't a program because of its past or because of what its done in recent years . UK is the program in college basketball because in almost every era of basketball it has found a way to win and be relevant. No other program can say that.

Until then, it's simply either fear that they are going to take the top spot, or jealousy. Again, I think because since I was born in 1976 that Duke is probably the poster child for college hoops. I would understand hatred of Florida. That's actually a conference team. IU? At least it would be a regional thing. Duke fans don't own tshirts and bumper stickers about UK. Carolina? Absolutely,and they wear them proudly. I am a Kansas fan. I despise Texas and KState with a passion. Never seen an anti-UK or Duke shirt at The Fog. Ohio State fans chant about the state of Michigan. Not so much Kentucky or Duke. It's just an obsession for some reason. I don't get it, other than we have nothing to do other than hold onto the stomp. Trust me, as a non-UK fan, Dickie V rants as much about UK as he does Duke, it's just UK fans focus so much on what he says about Duke they miss all the slobbering on the Cats. Maybe it's playing hoops in a football conference you guys just need someone to hate. I find it quite amusing.

March 8, 201412 yr I leave for 2 days and this thread has finally turned into what we expected. Only took 56 posts to bring up how much better UK was in the 50's, and 60's. Just had to make me jealous of those years. Thanks for reminding me that I am indeed envious of your past. I'm no Duke hater. If you close enough the thread really turned on the "envy" statements.

All I can say is that you don't have a good understanding of basketball prior to 1990.

March 9, 201412 yr UK is not very good and shouldn't be ranked and Duke is ranked a little higher than they deserve, not really sure if anyone has stated that UK should be ranked as high as Duke, actually, I'm not even sure what you guys are arguing about.:idunno:
