March 2, 201412 yr Precip has ended in NKY. We get to enjoy a dry slot for awhile until the second phase ramps up later this afternoon into evening. Maybe a .10 of ice on landscape and lines. The 50 degree temps yesterday really helped keep the surfaces from becoming too treacherous. Temps have held steady at 30 since 3:30a. Don't forget to check out nWo sticky thread for outage info for the state. He posted a link at the bottom of the page. And lets pray for quick solutions and good teamwork amongst the utility workers who make it happen for power restoration. Enjoy your afternoon!

March 2, 201412 yr I have very good news. Just checked the National Weather Service web site and they have dropped the snow accum totals down to 1-3" for NKY. So the 4-8" is out the window thank God. I'm not going to hold my breadth on this since there is so much precip west and southwest of us in Arkansas, Okla, and TX heading our way over the next 24 hrs. But for now, we'll take it over yesterdays predictions. NOAA National Weather Service

Hinds started his homily off with, "the lack of a crowd this evening says attendees for tomorrow have "faith" in their driving abilities in icy conditions". Of course at the time they were calling for some nasty stuff for the morning so it made it kind of funny.

More ice = more problems. Easy Homer, please convince me how 6-10" of snow is better than 1-3" unless you work at Perfect North or enjoy skiing. The ice portion of this storm according to the NWS is over for NKY. Time to put the "hide the women and children" angle away and enjoy a friendlier forecast. Personally my back would rather shovel 2" than 8". After receiving approx. 1/10 of ice this morning there are no reported outages in NKY. LG&E/KU/ODP Outage Map Give Marge and the kids our best and enjoy a few coldies to calm the nerves!
March 2, 201412 yr Author I would hold off on thinking the worst is over. It never was said that it would all fall during the day on Sunday. I'm thankful that so far that the ice totals have been very low. Remember earlier in the week I said there would be two impulses that would come through then the main system would get her later Sunday night. This is supposed to last into the day on Monday. One last thing hope that the temps fall more than they have by the time the next system gets here or we'll be looking at the ice starting back up again.
March 2, 201412 yr The power company trucks are already out in force anticipating the ice storm. That's a good sign that they seem to be well prepared. Bad sign that they must expect problems. I assume that's River Hill drive in Ashland?
