Birdsfan didn't get to a room until later in the evening last night so I didn't get a chance to visit him or talk to him. His brother has updated us on his situation as follows. I don't think he would mind me sharing this since Birdsfan wants you all to be up to speed:

 

He had another scan done around 5PM last evening to check for a blood clot in his lungs. The test was negative. As of 8PM last night, the plan is for him to remain in ICU for 3 days and then transition into a unit that specializes in respiratory therapy. As I understand it, when people are on oxygen supplements for a period of time the body becomes somewhat dependent upon it. Not to be confused with an addiction. Rather the body, lungs, must learn to work without assistance. Someone in the know chime in. I don't completely understand it exactly. I do know that he has undergone this therapy in the past and it is a very challenging endeavor.

 

He really needs all of our prayers right now. More fluid. Yet another catheter insertion. Doctors basically not 100% on how to proceed.

 

Just wanted everyone to know what we know and to thank each and every one of you on his behalf.

Birdsfan... Today is a new day and a good day for recovery. You are in all of our prayers. You are in good hands at Christ Hospital, and all your BGP buddies are pulling for you.

 

Your faith has made a lasting impression on all of us, and in that faith we believe in you and God's everlasting love.

 

It's cold outside so take advantage of calm relaxation and know in your heart you're a good son and have done good in the lives of everyone you've touched.

 

I've no doubt that your angels are with you keeping a close watch.
