Tallest Players in NKY History?

Featured Replies

Sorry if it has already been mentioned...I believe the guy you're referring to has a grandson at St Joe's in Cold Spring that is a really big kid already as well. Projected to be a 7 footer that will end up at Newcath. 4th or 5th grader. Old guy at the gym was telling me about the same guy.
Jack Gruenschlaeger has a baby brother that's quite large. Not sure this is him though. I don't think he's that old.

Boone had a big kid that played at NKU.

Rasso played at Boone in the early 2000's and went on to play at NKU. He was around 6'8".

For Coopers short existence it would be big Lou M. From last year but I don't Remeber his height.

Big Lou was about 6'8"

Quick story on Cowens just after he retired. They had a Men's league up at NC that attracted some serious talent. College players, ex pro's, those trying to make the pro's and those that could just flat out play would attend.

A group from UC came over and were throwing down dunk after dunk, hanging on the rim. Jelly Jones and Doc Holden were putting on a show but Doc was warned a few times to quit hanging or the glass was going to shatter (pre-breakaway days).

Doc kept hanging and they couldn't do anything about it. Rather than kick him out, Dave Cowens says, its ok, takes off his sweats and enters the game. (was he on a roster? who knows). He proceeds to push Doc Holden all over the court. Ripping rebound after rebound (many below the rim, diving all over the floor)., posting up aggressively as possible, dunking. The place was silent. He was a mad man. It wasn't so much showing up as to show the Holden what its all about. Holden, a nice college player in his own right, was dominated, but got the message. He never hung on the rim the rest of the year. Cowens was seen talking to him after the game one on one, both in good spirits.

Is MMI in NKY? I would probably say he belongs in the KY thread for tallest players.

Bourbon County, they closed the doors a few years ago.

Has anybody said Tom Boerwinkle….MMI (KY) Tennessee / Chicago Bulls

I didn't know he played there.

Tallest in nky had been a good read with some good info....how about shortest varsity players in nky....

Wow, how tall is he? Isn't Zeke like 6' 4" or 5"?

Jack is 6'10 or 6'11.

Jack is 6'10 or 6'11.

That pic is impressive lol. Makes him look at least 7 foot tall but it is deceiving because Zeke isn't standing straight up, but what a great pic!

Jack is 2nd string right guard for UK right now. Not bad for a walk-on. He's the tallest player in UK football history.

Mike Rambler is his name. Became a priest. Was a couple inches taller than Cowens, say 6-10, but not 7'.

Dern you Gerntz, I was just going to reply with that name.

Didn't PJ Thelen top out around 7'1" or so?

PJ topped out around 6'8" to 6'9". He left CCH just above 6' foot and shot up at Spring Hill. Great guy and comes from a wonderful family!
