I was a freshman in 85' and Tigger was playing for Dayton. He had a breakaway and he bounced the ball high in the air above the rim before going up and dunking with two hands. He could pass like no other 6'6 kid, always going behind the back....reminded me of a thin white Pete Maravich.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong because you might know, but how many high schools did he end up playing for? I could have swore he also bounced between the three "River City" schools.....Bellevue, Dayton, & Newport.

 

Had he been able to stay away from drugs, we would have seen him, without question, playing on a Major D1 team, (Duke, Maryland, etc.)

Dixie had two taller boys from `91? Andy Motz? 6`11 and `93 Drew Powers 6`8. I'm pretty sure that was their heights. Anyone help on this?

 

Drew Powers was 6'5 or 6'6. John Gibson was 6'7 and taller than Powers.

That was it as far as I remember. He was only at Bellevue through the 6th grade, no Jr high or High School. His older brother Tom played at Bellevue his soph yr and Dayton his Jr/Sr yr I believe. The family unfortunately had several issues.

Cowens at 6'8" was the leading rebounder on the 66 team. Not sure who a 7 footer would be. Must not have played much.

Don't believe Cowens was ever 6'8, even in the pros, but certainly not in high school.

It was Don Tierney, a neighbor of mine growing up on Highland Ave in Ft Mitchell. I remember at Blessed Sacrament he could dunk in 8th grade, but we had to give him about a dozen tries before he could get one lol. It was one of this dunks where you'd let the ball roll off your finger tips and as long as your hand touched the rim and the ball fell in we'd call it a dunk lol. Once he got in HS at CCH he could get a legitimate dunk.

He was a senior for CovCath when they faced 1981 State Champs Simon Kenton in the 9th Region Championship game held at Holmes.

 

In researching him I found out that he was drafted in 1985 by the Indiana Pacers. I never knew that he had a career after Marshall.

Mike Rambler is his name. Became a priest. Was a couple inches taller than Cowens, say 6-10, but not 7'.
