Cooper PA Guy Goes After CovCath Students On Twitter

Featured Replies

They also stood on the - gasp!- bleachers! At a GYM no less!

I am going to agree with those that say fans should never be on the player's bench/chairs - period.

Gotta side with the ones that think it's inappropriate for the fans to be standing on the players chairs.

Also have to say that there's never any legitimate reason for an adult (especially one that represents a school, even as a PA announcer) to take shots at teenagers on social media.

Also have to say that many (not all) PA announcers think that they are the show. I have no problem with a little enthusiasm for the home team but I HATE PA guys that think their role is to be a cheerleader for their team or to be a play-by-play announcer.

Pete is like coffee - he is an acquired taste. With that I said I have never figured out why people enjoy coffee. :)

As far as the PA announcer on twitter, not a smart move. Never understood why people, kids included, feel the need to attack others on twitter. Nothing good can ever come of it.

Now as far as the PA announcer, I don't know him at all but as far as his announcing during the games, I thought he does a fine job. Not bias in his announcing that I've seen at all. Much better job than I will say we had with a student doing the job at a NKY high school baseball team. I won't mention who or what school but it was very childish how the announcer announced visiting players at bat etc. the home team fans thought it was cute, the visiting team thought it was very rude.

Whoever does the PA duties, always try and be respectful to everyone playing. It makes a huge difference on how people think about your school and their administratin etc. when someone acts professional and UN biased when performing those duties.

On that note, how do you feel about Campbell County's PA announcer?

:lol2:

I'm sure he is a very nice man and has dozens of great qualities.

But in my opinion, his announcing style is annoying.

That still doesn't make standing in chairs acceptable. They were fine beyond the standing in the chairs. I'm surprised the Cooper AD allowed it simply because of a risk of falling or tearing up the cushions.

FofM, Kids push the limits and administrators determine when the lines are crossed. The admins looked right at the chair and the student standing on it and allowed it. Sorry you found it unacceptable but he didn't.

Now the sign raised by the Cooper students, he immediately grabbed and said no way, no how. But that hasn't come up. I am not knocking them for trying but my point is both groups will push the limits because that is what kids do. The sign referenced the Ryle issue (fyi) which I too found distasteful. And yes if you get too close to any of them you may be shocked at their undying support of their school, and this goes for both sides.

Both student groups did a great job so try to enjoy them for what they are and not for what you want to think they are because they come from an opposing school.

Which AD are you referring to? It sounds like the Cooper AD, who should be monitoring the Cooper kids. If I were him/her, I wouldn't monitor the CCH kids for poor taste (standing is someone else's chairs), as I would feel that's their AD's job.

(Not necessarily a question of paNDA) I thought that CCH expected more of their students? I've been attending games at my school for over 25 years and my students have never stood on players chairs, not our own and certainly not someone else's. My kids aren't perfect by any means, but they know that this is inappropriate.

To take it a step further, the students that stood on the players bench illegally entered the playing area. That should NEVER happen.

You are very clear on this point, so tell me how you feel about the PA Guy and his public remarks?

Basketball? I never heard him yet.

Well I don't think anyone is debating whether or not the CCH students should have stood on the chairs. I don't think there will be anymore chair standing.

In the grand scheme of things, chair-gate will be only a minor hiccup in the history of an otherwise stellar cheering section. Good will triumph over evil and everyone will live happily ever after.

Could have fooled me. Certainly seems like some are defending it or excusing it.

I agree.

I will say something, and unfortunatley I'm not real good sometimes with transforming thought into text and it coming across right sometimes. But I will try anyway.

Thrillville's post got me to thinking. When he made the comment about chair gate being a hiccup in the history of an otherwise stellar cheering section. I think that is in the eyes of the beholder. The student section for CCH has gotten so much positive reporting I think because of the mere size they have in numbers game in and game out and how organized, they seem to be. That does not mean they do no wrong, actually it seems they tend to have some very thin skinned supporters at times and it gets to the point where whenever something negative is said of them there are a lot of CCH folks who tend to jump down the throat of anyone speaking negatively about them. It's as if there is an army of CCH student section backers ready to pounce in anything negative said about the group to turn it against the person who said something negative in the first place.

I personally enjoy the heck out of the CCH student section, they are hilarious and the exchange between them and the Cooper student section was classic. With that said they also did some things that apparently rubbed some the wrong way and it wasn't just a one time thing. Last I checked, 3 different incidents were discussed about things they've done that rubbed some the wrong way in just a 7 day time frame.

So I guess what I'm saying is, just because the crazies are well known doesn't mean they don't do some things they really shouldn't and just because they are well known doesn't excuse all their actions.

I truly believe that every person on here if they were honest would admit that they would love for their school's students to be the Crazies, warts and all.
