February 17, 201412 yr Not appropriate, in my opinion. As someone who worked hard to raise the money used to purchase the padded chairs my teams have, I personally would take offense as anyone standing in them. Sames goes for the chairs in my house. No one seems to want to answer whether or not their guests stand on chairs inside their home. I'll answer it. No they don't stand on my chairs in my house.
February 17, 201412 yr So it is standing on someone's chair when they can see you that matters? Splitting hairs now aren't we? Something you are forgetting. The chairs in the lockerroom are for the team just like the chairs on the side of the court at Cooper are for the team and coaches, not the student section.
February 17, 201412 yr This thread is silly. They shouldn't have stood on the chairs. I really doubt that the kids realized that they were being disrespectful. We can't change it now. They are kids and I'll bet they don't think many times before they act. It's part of growing up, they are teenagers and their behavior still needs to be corrected at times. We are the adults, we see that it's disrespectful. Someone should have stopped it, but it's history now. If chair standing were a regular thing, I'd be more concerned though.

My issue isn't really with the kids. You're right. Kids do stupid things. My issue is with the adults that make excuses for it or try to pass it off as acceptable. It's wrong. Own up to it as such (as apparently you have done, ThrillVille) and that'll be the end of it.
February 17, 201412 yr For those that suffer through obvious and chronic Self Righteous Indignation, I'd like to share something that my grandmother used to tell us, "blowing out someone else's candle does not make your candle shine brighter". Folks, some criticism is merited, but some things come off as petty, trite and predictable (especially when hiding behind avatars)

That is the worst excuse ever and Unfortunatly it has been way overused in certain situations to defend particular groups. If it was just kids being kids and they didn't know better then why don't all kids the same age make the same mistakes as this particular group constantly does? These kids who are supposed to be the leaders of the large group are 17 and 18 years old. They know the difference in being rude, as well as right and wrong. Mquit defending them because they are supposedly "kids". As far as the adults supposed to be watching them, they failed miserably apparently because the same group has been of topic 2 consecutive weeks now.

I'm not talking about all HS students that are always given a free pass by their supporters when they screw up, not just a student section at games and not just the crazies, but all students. I knew the difference between right and wrong long before I reached high school.

Stood on chairs?
February 17, 201412 yr What have the CovCath kids constantly done? Stood on chairs? No, just found it interesting that in back to back weeks there have only been 1 student section that had been brought up in topics about some questionable behavior. Yet the parents and alum of that said group continues to brush it off and actually has gone so far as to label them "Classy" as if other student sections are not as "Classy" yet it's only the crazies who have been discussed and not for doing good. Thats all. Doesn't that seem a little strange? To answer your particular question 1. Tor down a poster dedicated to a student who had died 2. Cheering during an injury of an opponent 3. Standing on cushioned chairs meant for players None of those 3 I have brought up but were originally brought up by others

Me stating that the move the CCH kids regarding the banner was classy, does not mean that other kids are not also classy. Sheesh- need some daily affirmation there or something?

Ah- you mean like the classy move the Cooper administration has made by immediately admonishing the Cooper PA for getting into Twitter arguments with teenagers. Creepy.
