Advice on buying clothes for your wife

Featured Replies

Anyone have advice on buying clothes for your wife? I'll share what I've done for many years and it still works like a charm.

When I arrive at the store of choice. My first question, where are your dresses in the $200.00 - $250.00 range. Style, color, long, short, none of this matters. My wife wares a size 8, I go to the size 4-5 dresses, grab the first one I see. Have it wrapped real nice. What is the first thing a woman does when she opens up clothes, she looks at the size, then the item itself. When mine looks at the size, she says, "you got me the wrong size again". My reply, "I held it up and it looked like it would fit you perfect" She gets all glowy, thinking I she her as a size 4-5. Then the magic, she takes that $200.00 dollar dress back and gets 3 dresses on sale for the same price.

Just give her your credit card, only advice you need.

My wife appreciates that I at least make an effort, I tried cash and high end gift cards...but get better results buying the wrong thing than taking the easy way out. dd has nailed it!

I always buy whatever the mannequin is wearing.

I don't remember elementary school students buying each other gifts when I was 8...

Bingo...

I actually do some research. I check what she has pinned to Pintrest. I google trends and colors. I work at a school, so I see trends that my teachers and students like. I check my wife's closet for sizes. Then, I do my best. She has always appreciated the efforts, as I do when she is looking for suits for me.

Gift card buddy.

I would probably not wear anything my husband picked out....:lol2: I think I am easy to buy for. Anything that has bling and usually red and black...my favorite colors. Can't stand my clothes too tight, so usually wear a size too big.

Don't buy her maternity clothes if she is not pregnant.

Very thoughtful and clever dd734.

The fishnets on the leg lamp come to mind. :lol2:
