January 14, 201412 yr Had chicken, mashed potatoes, and an apple today. Eating healthy sucks. If you make your diet your #1 priority, you will see results. I've been eating "healthy" by most accounts for years. I eat about 10 salads a weeks and love them! So many variations. Tonight I had butternut squash, chicken, and brown rice with a small side salad.
January 14, 201412 yr I was about ready to ask how it went? So, how did it go? It was different. My longest run was 13.1 miles and at mile 15 I started getting cramps in my stomach and thighs. I was getting scared as my biggest fear was not making it! So, I backed my pace down to make sure I made it all the way as the sun came up and the temp was rising! It was a struggle, but there was not anything or anyone in this world that was going to stop me from crossing that finish line. I took my phone with me and took pictures of every mile marker along with some pics of me in front of the castle. Also I had pre-set my phone to text my wife and 4 kids where I was at all times in the race. I did not run in my glasses so my texts where short and to the point. As I crossed the finish line, I became very emotional as I thought of where I was 4 years ago as a 310 pound fat man with asthma, borderline high blood pressure, and not active at all. Now, I'm over 100 pounds lighter and run about 20 miles each week and in good health. I WILL NOT GO BACK TO WHERE I WAS!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!

Mine was a train wreck but still memorable. Welcome to the marathon club. Only about 1% of people ever do a marathon.

January 15, 201412 yr Joined Planet Fitness on Monday night, and last night was my first night in the gym. Did upper body (curls, bench, upright rows, shoulder shrugs, lats, delts, triceps) and then 30 minute interval training on the treadmill.

So many variations. Tonight I had butternut squash, chicken, and brown rice with a small side salad. My biggest struggle is always the food. I can force myself into the gym 3-4 times a week, and once I'm actually there I'm good. Portion control, and actually knowing what I can eat is the biggest struggle. Lots of chicken and fish. That's about all I know. :lol2:
