January 10, 201412 yr Duning my 2 week Christmas stay with family in Florida it seems like all we did was eat. Ended up putting about 20 pounds on. Since I started my weight loss program about 6 years ago I track how far I walk with a pedometer. My brother, a runner, started using a gadget called Fitbit about 6 months ago. It's basically a high tech pedometer an I'm a gadget geek. It wirelessly uploads all the data to your computer and you can keep track of how far you walk. Guess what I got for Christmas. I've been using it daily since. Sent from my SCH-I405 using Forum Runner Are you happy with its use? I hear a lot of good things about the fitbit.
January 10, 201412 yr So far so good. I use the Zip tracker. The dashboard website they have really has a lot of information and it's simple to upload the information from the Zip. I also use the Map My Walk app on my phone and it interacts well with the Fitbit program so you can keep them both synchronized. What I like best about the tracker is that it can be clipped on your belt just like a traditional pedometer or you can stick it in your pocket and it works just as well. January 10, 201412 yr Getting after it this year. Trying to lose 20 pounds by Reds Opening Day (I'm a beer vendor). Once that starts up' date=' the workouts basically take care of themselves but I still want to eat good. Anyone use MyFitnessPal app? I know its not entirely accurate, but its close enough for me. Sure does help me eat/snack less as well as have better portion control and make better decisions on what I eat.[/quote'] That's something I should do but don't. I absolutely have no problem working out 6 or 7 days a week. But I eat pretty much whatever I want whenever I want about 7 days a week. Luckily I just don't desire salty or sweet foods very much. Been on a spicy kick for a couple of years now which naturally helps keep things moving in the right direction. Need to do better with my sodium intake. Drinking only water has helped a lot.
January 11, 201412 yr Woodsrider---just noticed your avatar! The famous Rothenburg, Germany---crooked house. Went there many times for school field trips, as I lived in nearly Nurnberg. Went there back in sept. Really cool town. We only had a couple of hours to spend, wish we could been there longer. The church in the middle of town was unbelievable.
January 12, 201412 yr Flashback to Jan. 10, 2013. I was struggling to find something that I could do, that I would stick with, so I could get in shape. I started out with a 20 minute DVD. Did that every day for about 3 months. Needed something more so started the Insanity workout. Did about 3 rounds of Insanity. Then started running again--so switched off between running and Insanity DVDs. Never really changed my diet, except becoming more aware and choosing what would help me with my next workout. Lost 20 pounds, 2 sizes. Inches? Several. Most importantly, I became "addicted" to working out, and now some form of exercise is incorporated into my daily schedule. YOU FOLKS ON BGP WERE INSTRUMENTAL to my success. The encouragement, the advice, and just knowing that you guys were out there doing your thing each day---like me, even on days that you didn't want to.....all that was a tremendous help. So THANK YOU, BGP!! :notworthy:
January 12, 201412 yr 365 days later and time to hit the reset button. One thing that helped get things rolling last year was to work out every day for 21 days straight. Then it became an ingrained habit. Goals for 2014: Lose 15-20 pounds. Run a mini.
January 12, 201412 yr Bought a little food scale from Target on Friday to help with my portion control and to accurately update MyFitnessPal. Things all seem to be clicking right now, just a matter of keeping with it. First weigh in will be this Friday (two weeks) but I think I'm going to be very happy with my results so far.
January 13, 201412 yr Yesterday I finished my 1st. full marathon at Walt Disney World and burned 3,901 calories. Woot Woot!

January 13, 201412 yr On Saturday I ran 11 miles in just over 1 hr and 21 minutes. 7:23 pace. I'm still a little tender in some spots. The wind was getting after it.
January 13, 201412 yr Had chicken' date=' mashed potatoes, and an apple today. Eating healthy sucks.[/quote'] That sounds like something my family would like as long as the chicken is covered in BBQ, mashed potatoes drowning in butter and they have caramel to dip their apple in. Honestly what you had sounds pretty good to me. Throw in some brooch and carrots too.
