And good one 2C, I was actually thinking 94 but both years make sense.

Late to the party, but I promise I didn't look at any of the other posts before taking my guess.

Is this 1995?

Breathitt County fans would have known, I thought their undefeated record and high Lit rating was a giveaway.

I was gonna guess 1995. Ryan Weisman was the QB at BG I believe. I think Shawn Taylor was the RB.
Both were gone by '95. Gray at QB, RB's were Harpool, Colton, and Spruill.
Beechwood was better than Mayfield in 95.

And Garrard County had beat Beechwood that season. Alas, the Lions could never beat Harrodsburg.

Man those were some good Breathitt County teams back then.

In all my years of following football in EKY..the only two teams I remember that simply captured reverence with an unequal comparison were those Breathitt teams and the Pikeville teams during their great title run under Hilliard Howard.Even with Belfry's dominant run of the past 11 years there has never been a team that simply stood out above everyone else like those squads mentioned above.

Speaking of which... it is interesting seeing Pikeville ranked so high. It makes me miss the old Beechwood vs. Pikeville battles.

Beechwood was better than Mayfield in 95.

There, I said it.

Funny, How I thought we didnt play that well and still won. Beechwood was not better. If the Tyler boy had stayed on the team we would have had the best linebacking crew in the state. We got the trophy... thats all that matters!

Highlands finished third in their district that year and finished runner up in the state. I have often felt that that late season run to the final was a huge turning point in Dale Mueller's future success.

Although the score wasn't that bad, HHS was never really a threat to BG in that title game. I wonder how different Mason would have made at QB had he not got hurt. I believe he got hurt against Holmes (I believe it was a tight game, but I might be wrong) a few weeks earlier.

Breathitt and Franklin-Simpson met in the 2A State Championship with BC winning in 2 OTs. What a classic game. BC with the spread offense and F-S with wishbone and 2 TEs. I believe both programs had dropped from 3A to 2A that season.

ONe of the few state championships I have missed over the years. I did listen to this game on the radio though, and it was fantastic.

Weisman was the QB of the '94 Runner-Up team to Cov. Cath.

Shawn Taylor was one of the best backs BG has ever seen, big, fast, strong, but his Sr. season was '93, where BG finished 10-3 with two losses to Warren Central.

'95's QB was Sylvester Gray and the RB's (BG was in the Wishbone then) were Brian Harpool, Steven Spurill, and Delvin Colton (who many will say is the most dominant player ever to play at BG...(the RT on that team was pretty special too ;):))

True dat.

I don't think it's 1995....There is no Covington Catholic or Leslie County? Certainly both these teams would of been rated above HHS that year.

And it has to be after 1992....There is a school listed that wasn't around before then
