Phil Robertson Suspended From A&E

Featured Replies

So vile? Are you saying what Phil said was vile? I don't think your analogy works here, because nothing about what Phil said was vile. It was a simple statement of his belief. Now, did he maybe go overboard a little in his comment? probably so...but vile?

To be clear I am not saying Phil said anything vile. My analogy deals with an employee saying something in public and the employer's response.

IMO this was a bad idea by the Gay rights groups to call for his suspension. They should have seized this opportunity to have an open dialouge to get their view out to maybe educationalize those who may not understand or have a 1 sided view.

Can you imagine a gay rights group going hunting with the Duck Dynasty Clan.

Too late now though, they would rather stop the discussion.

Step outside of yourself for a moment and consider the possibility that maybe gay folks find hunting as repulsive as Bible-tossers find homosexuality.

Now Jim you seem to be sterotyping.

I was meaning it as a good thing and maybe both groups getting together to understand each others agendas better.

I doubt all gays hate hunting

Might be hard to have a dialogue if both sides don't speak English. :thumb:

Reports are that these quotes are mild as compared to past quotes he has made about homosexuality.

My nephew and his partner are avid hunters and make a mean venison chili. They hunt anything and everything but prefer the Bow and Muzzeloader seasons. Seems like this time of year they are always out.

ROBERTSON FAMILY STATEMENT:

"We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E's decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Phil would never incite or encourage hate. We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.

Trust me, it's in the Catholic theology as well. The big difference is Catholics don't seize upon it and make it their cause d'celebre the way Protestants — mostly Baptists — obsessively do.

What makes it their cause d'Celebre as you say? Are you also saying that Catholics are turning against the teaching of the Bible and are openly accepting Homosexuality as not being a sin?

I get it that you despise all organized religion, you've made that abundantly clear on several threads but what should people that follow the teachings of the Bible do? Ignore it, only accept the PC parts, have lack of conviction to their faith and hide and run when asked what their beliefs are?

All I've seen anyone do is point out that Homosexuality is a Sin according to the teaching of the Bible. Very few narrow minded people of many Religions condemn the Sinner, but MANY MANY Protestant Pastors, the Catholic Church and even Phil Robertson take the same position that Jesus did, of Don't hate the Sinner, hate the Sin.

I am at the airport ready to board. I haven't watched this yet.

Phil Robertson Video On Gays - Business Insider

I didn't watch it either but found it interesting that it was recorded 3 years ago. Just more reason that A&E most probably knew about his beliefs long ago.

I don't think he or his family have ever hid their beliefs...no way A&E didn't know...as stated earlier A&E were just afraid of the backlash and tried to get out in front of it when the GQ interview came to light.

IMO this will work out better for the Robertsons than it will for A&E.

Fair.

However, these comments are much worse.
