NCC is running on all cylinders and very early. I hope they dont peak too early. For now, they are rolling teams.

NewCath looked very strong. They really run the floor well (Schulte will beat you down the floor every time), and pass the ball well. Their bigs keep the ball high on rebounds and they probably had a dozen blocks tonight. Weyer looked much improved.

I tweeted it and I'll say it here....Newcath is easily top 5 and capable of beating ANYONE in the state.

 

The only way you are going to beat Newcath this year is if you have a combination of the following:

 

- Good outside shooting (Too much size inside to consistently score over the three big guys)

- Athleticism and Quickness (Newcath hasn't been tested here yet. They look really good in transition but can they do that against teams with just as much and more speed/quickness/athleticism than them)

- Size and good big men (Schulte, McDonald, and Weyer absolutely dominated tonight)

 

Newcath plays unselfish, gets after it on D, and can score at all three levels with multiple guys.

 

Boone was completely outmatched tonight. Their lack of size absolutely killed them. When they put Stockwell and McDonald in together, they were able to slow the Newcath bigs down some, but at that point Pangallo and Tanner Moeves started scoring.

Agree...did i just agree with you...lol....there is only two teams in NKY that can maybe give them a game and they both will be 10-15 point dogs. No disrespect to others...NCC is a train coming down the track about 80 miles an hour....hold on NKY.

So much more aggressive and confident this year. He compliments McDonald and Schulte well.

Mainly inside. Too big and strong for Boone's post players. I was honestly surprised Coach McQ went with a 4 guard lineup to start the game.

 

Schulte, McDonald, and Weyer combined for 17 of Newcath's 19 first quarter points.

Sorry I couldn't post in the update thread, nowhere in that gym could I get any reception. I had to go outside at halftime just to give the one comment.

 

The Breds race out to a 15-0 lead before Boone gets it's 1st bucket. Breds true to their name has they raced up and down the floor, boys and girls, this team can run. The size of Drew McDonald (6pts), Jake Schulte (6pts.), & Ben Weyer (4pts.) was too much for the Rebels to handle on both sides of the court. Weyer and Schulte with a couple blocked shots each. Zach Pangallo chipped in (3pts.) in the frame. NewCath 19-7 after one quarter.

 

The 2nd stanza it was Tanner Moeves (8pts.) with stellar "D" and 2 treys, also does a great job handling the ball and driving to the rack. Pangallo (6pts.), Weyer (3pts.), McDonald, Schulte, & Josh Verkamp with 2 each. The Breds size and great "D" stymied the Rebels and at the break it's Breds 42-15.

 

The 3rd quarter saw the Rebels "kick a field goal", actually 3 FT's, for their only pts. of the quarter and it was a running clock at the 4:00 mark. The starters were pulled at this point. Pangallo (8pts.), McDonald, Weyer, & T. Moeves with 2 each.

 

Josh Verkamp with 7 pts. in the final frame (5 on FT's). Brian Anderson with (4pts.) and Tyler Rawe, Erik Anderson, & Jake Smith with 2 each.

 

Brenden Stanley led the Rebels with 9 pts.

Allow me to play devils advocate........NCC has not experienced any major foul trouble yet. Let's see how they react to it when it comes. NCC has not been behind or even only slightly ahead in any game yet. Lets see what happens there. Lets see some back to back game nights. Somewhere along the way kids could get injured and almost always kids get sick with colds that spreads thru the team. It is a long season.
