Congrats to NCC.

Boone was there, right?

Who played well for Boone?

Stanley played his tail off and was clearly not enjoying the thumping. I'm a huge fan of his. #22 got to the rim a lot, has nice length and quicks, but lacks strength and couldn't finish at all.

Allow me to play devils advocate........NCC has not experienced any major foul trouble yet. Let's see how they react to it when it comes. NCC has not been behind or even only slightly ahead in any game yet. Lets see what happens there. Lets see some back to back game nights. Somewhere along the way kids could get injured and almost always kids get sick with colds that spreads thru the team. It is a long season.

Wow!! Thanks for the insight. It never crossed my mind someone could get hurt or sick.

I've had the chance to spend some time with Stanley. Really good kid. Pleasant. Talented as well.

The real test for this team is the next two weeks, King of Bluegrass & Republic Bank of Kentucky tournaments. They will be playing some top quality competition.

How they fare in these two tourneys will tell us much more about this squad.

The foul trouble issue is fair. Their first 6 are state-wide legit. Outside of a very few select teams their 6 are better than everyone.

When did #7 get in? I heard with about 1 minute left in the 2nd qtr. That would be my ONLY concern with NCC and that's being picky.

Their 7th man, #20, checked in with 1:01 left in the 2nd.

Also, Mac Franzen (football QB) has yet to suit up, he adds a 6'4" frame and can stroke the 3.

BTW I saw the Breds were ranked third...is that too low?

Highest they can go is #2 unless Ballard loses players for whatever reason.

Stanley has been a great player as long as I have known him---going back to when he was in 4th grade. He's the kind of kid you want to cheer for.

Depth is overrated in high school. You can only play 5 players at once anyway. If you have good players, you don't want to sit them much anyway in a 32 minute game. Those boys are in shape. They can run and play 32 minutes. How much do you want to sit McDonald, Pangallo, and Schulte? Do you really need more than 6-7 good, solid players in high school? I believe McDonald was sick last year during the All A Regional and they still pulled it out because he played thru it.

As far as the game tonight, Weyer, McDonald and Schulte all blocked shots and controlled the boards. McDonald and Weyer play great defense and all 3 are a great presence in the lane. Tanner Moeves, Schulte and Pangallo did a great job tonight getting down the floor when McDonald got a rebound because he ran a solid transition. He adds so much more to the game than just points. I'd like to know how many rebounds and assists he had. Grant and Tanner played good in your face perimeter defense. They team will only get better when Franzen joins them. Vercamp (#20) could start on any other team in the region. He will help as he gain confidence. He's not just a cigar player.

Having seen both New. Cath. and Cov. Cath. play. I don't feel the love for the Blue Colonels against NCC as most seem to have.

Probably fair but realize that sometimes only seeing one game can give you a false perspective. Heck, you're one game ahead of me so far so I can't comment as to the veracity of your belief.

CCH has a nice team. That being said, NCC really impressed me, and I don't get impressed very often.

NCC is playing too easy of a schedule this season, they should move up to at least some Big East teams. I think they are in control of their own destiny. We will see.
