Not likely Ryle would hire him considering his year with Grant Co. this past season.

 

Wasn't Dale Mueller something like 10 games below .500 in his first three yrs as a HC in Ohio (1st job)?

 

Kevin Wallace at BG was something like 15-20 games below .500 at Warren East before he landed the BG job and, the rest is history.

Have heard Wolf isn't as much of a candidate as some think. He could honestly be out of coaching within the next year or two.

 

It really depends if Ryle wants to go with someone already employed by the school or start fresh with someone from out of state or the area.

In my opinion this is one of the better jobs around. I bet they get a ton of applicants..

My guess is the Woolf (sp?) being referred to is Mike Woolf, CovCath grad and longtime Ryle assistant. I could be wrong, but I think he's been the defensive coordinator for quite a while, and generally considered to be Warner's top assistant. He works in the building.

 

My take on Woolf is two-fold. On the one hand, he has been very loyal to the program and school in remaining as an assistant when he certainly could have landed a head coaching job someplace in NKY by now. Flip side, by remaining at Ryle he is now part of all the reasons why the school felt a change needed to be made. My guess that makes it tough for him to sell himself to those hiring that he is the answer they are looking for.

 

I liken his situation to Niederman last year at Boone County. Both are good coaches with a passion for their school, but I see Woolf suffering the same fate Kyle did last year. Just my two cents.

It's pretty classless to make this public when Bryson still hasn't gotten the chance to speak to the players.

Change needed to happen there. His mistake was bad OC for the past few years. The defensive staff was good. Wolf would be an awesome person to take over. He deserves it since he has been so loyal to the program and the school. However, I think they will start over fresh and hire someone from outside of the area. That will get the parent involvement cut down quite a bit which is needed

Do coaches who are fired typically get an opportunity to talk to the team?

Problem with this job will be teaching jobs. Will they open them up to get the right coach in place. Only 2 coaches on current staff in building has to be an issue, especially if neither of those guys are on the staff. They are both tenured so where do u get help from. They will hire a coach who can teach, Warner did not teach so this is a big problem. Best of luck. Oh and doubt anyone with PE degree have a shot. Maybe all these dads can take over since the people in Union know everything about football. Now I agree a change may have been needed but issues finding a replacement who can bring in coaches will be hard. Just remember that. Turner is by the book so thw Chuck Smith demands Will not happen at Ryle.

It's probably a case by case basis, but for what Bryson has done at Ryle I would expect nothing less than to give him that opportunity.

This is sad to hear. As for Ryle's staff, I know two of the coaches fairly well. I grew up with Russell Harden in Woodlawn. Russell is as good of a person as there is. I didn't see any of Ryle's games this year, so I can't comment on how he was calling his game, but I do know that nobody loves the sport more. He will be successful either at Ryle, or somewhere else. You don't lose that kind of person from your program.

 

I played under Coach Woolf. Sheer intensity, but he cares. He legitimately cares about his players. I don't know how they responded to him this past season, but I know how many will feel about him after they leave. I still drop him emails from time-to-time. I don't do that w/ any of my other coaches. Whatever Ryle decides to do is their business. I just don't see, at the high school level, why you would want to disassociate yourself with positive influences.

I can't answer all of your questions but I can tell you the last two years Ryle's offense has been absolutely pathetic.
