Both to some extent, but in the stands. Some of Ryle's parents think they are the next coming of "insert star athlete here" Its not just a football thing, its all sports to some extent. See it in wrestling all the time, more at the lower levels.

I remember the inception of the program. Everyone benefited and was happy back then.

That would be a great fit IMO. I don't know if Grant Co can ever take the next step and think Siple would be a great fit at Ryle as long as he got his own coaching staff and did away with all the parent coaches.

Woolf has applied for a lot more than one job and he has not been selected for any of them. He may be the front runner but not the man I think that can right the ship. JMO

I think the Woolf/Niederman parallel is fitting in this situation. Both applied for other jobs, but both remained in the same position for many years. Niederman did leave Boone briefly for Bellevue, but returned.

 

My take on this is it's hard for an assistant coach from a staff with as much discord that went on at Boone and Ryle to get the job. Right or wrong, the whole staff is indicted when a coach is dismissed or resigns under pressure. That's not a knock on Woolf, just my take on the obstacle he has to overcome if he wants the job.

 

Him teaching in the building likely will help his cause though. I think many are overlooking how important teaching openings in the high school may be in the hiring process. If the school wants a teacher they likely want that teacher "in the building," not at another school. At that point, you have a paraprofessional.

 

And as one local football coach noted recently, with test scores coming under more and more scrutiny, principals aren't so quick to hire any old teacher just because they can coach. Principals are hiring the best teacher these days, because their jobs are on the line if they don't.

TANK I have plenty of clue, and if you will read Sandman's post and my previous post you will understand what I am talking about or maybe you have know UNDERSTANDING of how it works in public schools now a days. Good ole boy networks are not going to work there.

Yes and no. They have to be realistic with themselves as well. I was around them a lot in the past and saw their vision, when all they thought that was holding them back was a middle school program. They scheduled the team they wanna be twice a year for a few years and beat them once. But was that just a fluke.. I tend to believe so. With Cooper opening that also weakened the program more.

It's a shame if the parents actually have as much pull as they think they have. This should all be on the AD to decide period. The parents already showed they have no clue when it comes to setting up the Ryle football program. Shoot they were the majority of the problem with all the parents on the coaching staff over the last few years.

 

Maybe it's the Triple Crown ego, I don't know, but if the parents are running this program then Ryle will never sustain success.
