Great finish. Luke Hayden had a 1 hand grab with 7 seconds left, ran all the way down to the 10 and got tackled. If he got out of bounds X could've kicked gw fg. Great resiliency by the players. Tough way to lose. Great season by all the players.

Alabama Larry and Bob Beatty are rejoicing. Larry's beloved Male is moving on and Beatty wants another meeting.

Will Male have the intestinal fortitude to play next week at PJCS?

When Male went up 20-0 I thought it was over.

They probably would like to avenge the 2006 loss at home.

Not a chance.....we wouldn't either

Poor coaching caught up with them in the end. Those wastes timeouts hurt.

What a joke.

Sounds like both teams showed a lot of heart. X coming back from being down 20-0 and then threatening at the end..and..Male answering X's rally with a game-winning FG. Congrats to both teams.

Nor should they. They earned home field, take advantage of it.

Amen! The only question is whether Male will send any tickets to Trinity or if I have to make an extra trip to Preston Highway.

I concur. The "SEC" of the KHSAA - too bad these two games were not the State Semi's.

Very good year for the Tigers under new leadership.

St. X head coach Will Wolford declined to speak to the media after the game.

This is from Louisville Catholic Sports.com! That is no way for a head coach to react.

I don't think it's too unreasonable that there's the super district. As an outside observer who had no rooting interest in football because I went to a school who rarely made it to the playoffs, much less advanced in them, I thought it was a little biased to have two Louisville schools meet in the state finals, even if they were the two best teams. At the time it was formed, the public-private debate was pretty hot and it seemed to be a compromise.

I'd analogize the situation to if basketball regions were divided so that four or five Louisville schools could get to the Sweet 16 while feeding some smaller schools to them in regional play through gerrymandered districts.

May not really be fair to the teams in Louisville that the best 4 won't make the state semi's, but it's probably better for building the profile of Kentucky High School Football on the whole.
