Seriously, back in the day if my mom or any of my buddies' moms would have yelled on to the field or at the coach or come on the field if I got hurt, we would have told her not to come to any more games. Why don't our boys hold their mamas accountable for their ignorant behavior.

I remember a few years ago I was at a high school football game and a Mom from the opposing team would yell "KILL HIM" on almost every single play when her team was on defense. I thought what a loudmouth and was embarrassed for the other fans sitting around her. Then a couple years later my brother-in-law and I went to a Colerain - St. X playoff football game. This was the first time we attended a game together and my brother-in-law being a Colerain grad would yell "KILL HIM" every time St. X ran an offensive play. I then realized women weren't the only loudmouth's and lets just say this time, I was embarrassed for myself. I refuse to attended another High School Football game with him again.

When my oldest son was playing basketball, the mom of another player who happened to play the same point guard position, made a point to yell bad things to my son whenever he made a mistake including "get him out of there". However, I saw a man display this exact same behavior (who's son played at LexCath and was a shooting guard a few years ago....yes, I'll call him out) when my younger son played basketball there for his first two years. So, I won't say it is male or females that tick me off, it is parents, who for the sake of their child, will try to make others look bad.

 

In the case of the lady, I politely asked her if she would like it if I yelled at her son...although that is not what I REALLY wanted to do.

I've seen some of the worst behavior out of parents after their kids got snubbed for all-tourney team awards.

Exactly, wonder how the kicker felt after hearing that, and how did the kickers mom/dad feel after hearing that.

Are you kidding me? This thread sucks. There are just as many men out there making a fool of themselves at sporting events as there are women. Mr. lawildcat refs basketball so I have seen more than my share of fools in the stands who think their kid is the next NBA or WNBA star. I choose to sit away from the crowd; usually behind the bench by myself somewhere, so I don't have to hear all the negative comments. I'd have to say it's pretty even; men are just louder and think they know more than women. It has been my experience that the ones who are the loudest are also the ones who have little knowledge of the rules.

I agree those penny jugs are too small. I much prefer mommas with big ole juggs. At least quarter or 50 cent juggs for me.

I've been all over the state the last few years and women always stand out to me. But I've seen some crazy men too. I'm going to say 75% of problematic fans were women.

Somehow I've totally missed this thread, and G, I think it's as relevant as a topic as any. Most of my time on this board is spent in the high school sports part or college football.

 

As I've read, it seems like ole' Mountain Ref and I have made some upset, and some others (while looking at it objectively) have agreed. Both are fine. It's why the controversial topics are what they are, you can't have these threads without disagreement.

 

One thing I left out, and somebody else made mention of this, but many times, the Momma's are also the best when it comes to being the heart and soul behind booster clubs. But, they can be the worst when it comes to being general fans (PP92 hit it spot on, and I've seen numerous examples along the lines of what he has also seen).

 

I'm sure some read this as misogyny, and that's fine; I'll never lose any sleep over that.

 

It's funny, though...I don't know if it was on this site or not, but last winter I got into a conversation with somebody about girls basketball. Well, I gave my two cents on it, which was that I can't stand watching it. Bores me to death & I gave my reasons. Well, of course there came the misogyny, chauvinist comments (expected). Support it all that I can and then some..enjoy watching it? Negative.

 

......but, then I went onto talk about how much I thoroughly love watching women's softball and gymnastics. I think I even talked about how most, if not all men would struggle to hit the ball at that speed & distance (funny there were no misogyny comments made then).I'll watch a girls softball game every time over a baseball game. Matter of fact, watching girls basketball and baseball are dead even with me when it comes to 'going out of my mind boredom' (I even played baseball. Loved playing...can't stand watching). It goes without saying, though, that my love for watching softball was never taken note of.

 

Love 99.9% of everything about women, but nope, can't voice how I think they can be the most obnoxious of fans or my dislike of women's basketball. The epitome of misogyny and chauvinism I tell ya. That's me.
