From Harry Doyle:

Momma's are the worst.

===============

From mountain ref in response to Harry Doyle:

No doubt, need a husband that won't let them open their mouths.

===============

More from Harry Doyle:

When it came to the field or court, that's exactly right. My mom and dad both knew there were things that they obviously collaboartively decided, then there were things where yeah, one might give an opinion, but only one of them was making the decision.....and, the other knew their role.

For some reason, that's viewed as a bad thing.

AND

the momma's are the problem running their mouths at the games.

I can tell you this, the CovCath Mom's are the best around.

The dinner or breakfast at CovCath prior to our Football games that the Moms make are outstanding, and that does not include the goodies on Wednesday that they bring. The CovCath Basketball Moms light dinner and snacks that they make prior to long road trip are wonderfully good and tasty. Ah but the Baseball Moms and the food they bring (Chef Meg "WOW") to the team banquet, is to die for and work hard in helping Mary out in the snack bar at games.

Yep CovCath Moms are indeed the best around! :thumb::thumb:

Momma's with penny jugs are the problem.....

j/k ladies

I don't need any accessories....my mouth is deafening. :lol:

I have NEVER interfered with a coach at any level....my ex-husband, however, was a world-class heckler of refs. :D. I don't think he ever was out of line to a coach though. Even when he disagreed with a coach, I don't remember him trying to directly interfere.

I do feel that it is OUT OF LINE for any parent, fan, or anything else, to use social media, or any other avenue to make it personal. And it especially abhorrent to involve a coaches family members.

Having stood by CovCath moms in the end zone at the last few HHS/CCHS games I've attended at Highlands, I'm inclined to agree with you.

Guru wow .

G wasn't the one who made those comments. And I do think it's a pretty worthy topic....but my idea of the topic at hand is misogyny...I'm not sure that's what G intended, though.

So again I ask, are loudmouth women a huge problem with high school athletics?

Not a huge problem but a problem and in many cases an embarrassment to a school and program.

I'll explain what I mean before I get killed: There are many men and women both that spout off at games and yell at the coach, team, opponent and officials. The problem comes with those that don't have a clue with what they are saying, they will hear something and then continue to repeat and yell what they heard over and over, having no clue what they are talking about. In most cases the people at the games that don't understand what they are seeing are the mommas and grand mommas there to support their child that have never seen a football enough to actually understand it.

There was a woman (not a momma) that had a player on our team that was lost at every game, but wanted to act like she was all involved. I noticed that if one of use yelled about a penalty or said "Let's go D" she would repeat it verbatim. Well for a game or two I had fun with that, I'd say something completely nonsensical where she could hear me and then she repeat in 10 sometimes 20 times yelling towards the field. I say "Let's go D" when we had the ball and she would repeat it for an entire offensive series and sometimes others would join in with her. After two games of doing this my wife made me quit one night with tears rolling down her cheeks laughing so hard she was crying as I had the lady yelling "Run the peanutbutter". This may sound mean of me but this lady had such an superiority complex over everyone else and was so obnoxious I didn't feel bad doing it.

There are plenty of knowledgeable female sports fans, but there are plenty more that don't have a clue and think they must yell at every call as a sign of support. My wife refused to sit with the other mommas at the games because of their embarrassing actions and always sat with me and some other guys so she could enjoy the game.

Loud women and loud men, both can be loud in the stands. I've heard both. I've been loud and last friday the refs could hear me. When I'm on the sidelines taking pictures or working chains I'm very quiet. In the stands I will sometimes be a bit loud. But I will say the wife is the worst lol. I can't even sit by here during football or baseball.

In another thread, a certain poster complained about women drivers. Now they are obnoxious at sporting events?

Why oh why were women ever given the right to vote?

I knew there was a reason that word isn't spelled misterogyny.

Yes the loud mouth moms are a problem, maybe more so than the dad.

How many of those parents that gripe and complain even help the booster club. They want to show up and act like they know what's going on when in reality they have no clue. So they say stuff out loud to try and make people think they know something when in reality they are making a fool out of themselves.

The statement wasn't meant the way it sounded or read and everyone's experiences are different. I've seen and heard way more women be loud and obnoxious during games than men. I've seen women throw pop cans at referees when their son is called for a foul. I've seen women absolutely lose their mind when they think their son is fouled and the ref doesn't call it. The last time I saw a fan thrown out of a game it was a woman. Coach's wife. I bet if we took a poll of head coaches and asked them who is a bigger headache, mom or dad, I bet mom wins in a landslide. And that is not to crap all over women or to be sexist I think it is just the difference between men and women at play and how we handle our emotions differently at times. I've had to calm my wife down on multiple occasions but I'd rather her be mad at me for that than for her to look like a fool in public. She's better than that but sometimes our emotions get the best of us.
