November 14, 201312 yr I usually tip at least 4 bucks if it is under 20 bucks. 5 bucks if it is between 20-30 bucks. Probably about 7-10 for anything over 40 bucks. Note to self: Go into pizza delivery business.
November 14, 201312 yr Did your pizza place charge a delivery fee? If so do they give a portion of it to the driver? I typically pick up because it is so close but when I do get a delivery I usually tip around $3 to $5 but would be inclined to tip more if none of the delivery charge went to the driver. That was a long time ago but we only got like 50 cents of the delivery fee.
November 14, 201312 yr If there is a delivery fee, the driver gets that... So I usually tip two or three dollars. I once asked Larosas if the driver gets the delivery fee and was told no. 20% from our house.
November 14, 201312 yr I rarely tip the driver... ...you don't tip your own son when you make him go pick up a carry out order do you? I would look for saliva on your future deliveries.
November 14, 201312 yr I'm with LC. I'm literally .5 mile outside of the delivery range of both places in town that deliver. If i'm gonna get in my car to meet them I may as well just go get it and not tip.
November 14, 201312 yr Depends on the cost....If it's $20 or more, it's usually $5. It's maybe a 3 minute drive to my house, so they're lucky I'm willing to tip anything on top of the delivery fee. If it's less than $20, I usually do $3-$4 bucks.
November 14, 201312 yr Minimum $5. It all depends on the order, and I do tip more in bad weather. As for the delivery fee, that varies from place to place. In some places, the driver never sees any of that money. In other places, the driver receives a very small percentage. I don't think I've ever heard where they get the entire amount. The delivery fee is just a way to jack up the price to cover the increase in expenses (like gas for the trucks delivering the food to the stores, not the gas for the delivery driver). I know pay used to be similar to that of a server at a restaurant where the drivers depended on those tips. I'm not sure if it's still the same, or a chain-to-chain thing.
November 14, 201312 yr If there is a delivery fee, the driver gets that... So I usually tip two or three dollars. None of the Pizza Joints that I am aware of, Pizza Hut, Domino's, Larosa's, Papa Johns give the entire delivery charge to the drivers. The amounts differ, but for example Larosa's charges over 2 bucks for delivery. For a $15.00 order, the driver gets less than a buck. Add to that that the drivers are considered tipped employees so the company does not pay them minimum wage - so drivers count on tips to make their money. One other thing to remember, drivers remember who are good tippers and who are not. So, bad tippers will typically be rewarded for that in their service over time!
November 14, 201312 yr I would look for saliva on your future deliveries. When I start worrying about my own son spitting on my pizza he'll have to start worrying about my foot up his butt.

I should have added that most of the places typically give the driver about a buck from the delivery charge and not the entire delivery charge.
November 14, 201312 yr Usually 5$ sometimes I end up knowing the delivery guy and that costs me a little more. I once had a delivery guy pull in and go dukes of hazard out the window. Turns out his door was busted and it was easier than going out the passenger side 7$ if you pull the dukes of hazard move in my driveway.
