November 14, 201312 yr Normally $5 for me. If there is some type of issue maybe less but not normally and if it is a really big order and/or someone from that business makes a real positive impression on me then a little more than $5.

I usually don't tip when I pick up pizza or other carryout food. Almost never have pizza delivered (I can go get it and it takes 10 minutes max), but if I do, I always tip $5 or 20 percent, whichever is greater.

Appreciate the update. :jump: Funny thing is we ordered from LaRosa's last night and I was reminded of this thread when paying him. Bill was $33.25 and I gave him $40. I started laughing to myself and my wife and kids wondered what was so funny. :ohbrother:
November 18, 201312 yr I haven't had a pizza delivered since pizza places brought back the delivery charge. On the rare occassions I do eat pizza I just go pick it up.
November 18, 201312 yr It's been years since the last time I got delivery to my house — always just go pick it up. The only time I really ever get delivery is if I'm in a hotel room. Generally that means alcohol is involved, so the driver tends to make out nicely.
November 18, 201312 yr None of the Pizza Joints that I am aware of, Pizza Hut, Domino's, Larosa's, Papa Johns give the entire delivery charge to the drivers. The amounts differ, but for example Larosa's charges over 2 bucks for delivery. For a $15.00 order, the driver gets less than a buck. Add to that that the drivers are considered tipped employees so the company does not pay them minimum wage - so drivers count on tips to make their money. One other thing to remember, drivers remember who are good tippers and who are not. So, bad tippers will typically be rewarded for that in their service over time! Not when I use to deliver for LaRosa's. Many moons ago I worked part time delivering pizza for LaRosa's. Back then I got $6 per hr (min. wage at that time was $5.25 or $5.50). I got 7% of the total bills I delivered for the day/night plus my tips. It may be different from store to store and may be different altogether now. But thats what we got back then.

I normally give 5 but I will also round up if it's similar to a total like that. 24 Bill will get 30 etc.
