Scotch, to me, is fairly similar. The taste is different, but if you drink bourbon or whiskey you can muscle through a scotch. Next thing you know ya might like it.

Next thing you know ya might like it. My Dad occasionally drank Scotch, so it was always around. And after trying it a few times, he never had to worry about me getting into his supply. I do have friends that enjoy Scotch, so I make it a point to try it every now and again. And the result is still the same. I hate it, can't stand it. I love Bourbon, but Scotch is just not my cup of tea.
June 27, 201412 yr This brings to mind when I was about 15 a friend of mine and I (inexperienced drinkers of course) snuck into his Dad's liquor cabinet and mixed a smidge of just about everything that was available into one of the most god awful concoctions known to man. None of the stuff was meant to be mixed. Think gin, vodka, whiskey, and so on and so on. I recall us thinking that it tasted like pencil lead. We hazardously got ourselves roaring drunk and then promptly puked our guts up. Bad idea to say the least. :puke:
June 27, 201412 yr I had that Coors Light Summer Brew last week. Absolute disaster. Newly arrived at the top of the list. I second that , its so over powering with citrus flavor it gosh awful.
June 27, 201412 yr I couldn't agree more. I try one every year during the derby, and I've had many versions. They are all terrible. I lived a summer near Ocean City, MD, and worked in a bar. The owner used to drink a prairie oysters in the morning when hungover. It's bourbon, tabasco, and a raw egg. Looked terrible, and I never even considered trying one As far a cool drink, Oatmeal Cookies are great. It's a shot each of Bailey's, Butterscotch Scnapps, and Jagermeister, and a half shot of Goldschlager. My mom's family's stomping grounds.

Others are fine for the most part, obviously, I like some more or less than others. If I had my choice for one that's enjoyable on my budget just to sip on, it'd be Knob Creek. Woodford Reserve is good, but it's fairly high where I live. Had to look up a list to tell you what I've tried and like and don't like, but here goes: If it's KY Bourbon, Four Roses, Bulleit, and 1792 is pretty solid too. May be blasphemous for me to say as a Kentuckian, but I think Makers is kind of overrated. Jim Beam burns and I don't like the smell at all. Kentucky Tavern and Kentucky Gentleman aren't enjoyable and just remind me of being a broke undergrad and make me think "what the hell?". If I'm going blended whiskey, it's probably Crown. Tennessee whiskey, Jack Daniels is a good bet, but not the honey or anything like that, just the regular. I can't recall trying anything too high end like Blanton's or something like that. Usually pretty simple with taste anyway, not a big guy on tons and tons of flavor.
