October 17, 201312 yr I remember 3 to make 2 but what were the circumstances of getting 3 to make 2. That I don't remember. It had a lot of variations over the years but basically after the 5th defensive foul you got 3 foul shots to make 2 (or 2 to make 1 after a made basket). In the ABA you could get 4 to make 3 if you were fouled on a 3 point shot after the 6th defensive foul..
