I am glad you are excited on see the results from playing mostly Juniors, and Sophmores on varsity. As you can see from Freshamn and J.V results that Rlye has some players that will make a difference in the coming years. The question you should be asking, since you are the Voice of reason, which means you study all sides of any conflict, problems, sucess, failure, and adversity and make a reasonable conclusion. Is what are the other teams going to do to stop Ryle in the future.

With a new staff, anything is possible ... with current staff = same as the last 3 years heading downward

That team lost 4 games, then proceeded to lose two games the rest of their high school careers. Sky's not falling.

I must add that Ryle is a very good team! They have nice size, do a fantastic job of staying with blocks and tackle well! Who is the gatekeeper of this program? IMO better growth should be expected and with the last 3 classes continued varsity mediocre results should not be accepted! #45 and # 71 was impressive.

Great story lines next week! CCH with CVH rolls into town with ex raider Angel. Should be a dandy!

I agree. No need to hit the panic button. Ryle frosh team hasn't been challenged all year. They have steamrolled everyone they have faced. Least amount of points they have scored is 30. They are big, fast and physical. I've seen every frosh team and they are heads above every team. Only thing I can see that will get them beat is turnovers, penalties or over confidence. Cov cath will give them the best game this year but I still see them beating the colonels by 2+ TDs.

I see a recruiting mission coming in the Campbell County area.:D

Well apparently other teams haven't had to do much to stop Ryle's Varsity teams. You act like this is the first time Ryle has had a good Frosh team, couldn't be more wrong. As we've pointed out Ryle has had really good Freshman teams and when those players get to Varsity, nothing happens except more losing.

That is what I've asked earlier this season, what happens to these players when they go from freshman to varsity players? Last year alone there were boasts about a freshman player on Ryle being one of the best RB's in the state this year for varsity.....what happened?

Looking at this year's varsity results with those juniors and sophomores on the roster, Ryle is not causing anyone to have concerns about the future. Two wins - one over a winless team and the other over a two win team that basically blew the game to give Ryle the win. If there is good talent in those junior and sophomore classes, the record should look better than it does.

Yeah because CC is just killing it at the frosh and middle school level...

Right, because consistently playing sophomores at key positions always leads to success in 6A football.

Ryle needs to get a new boat captain or this talent will under achieve as well.. Like I said before it blows me away how the people of Union are ok with being average when they have the talent to be extremely successful.. Don't get it!!!

Does 6A Ryle have zero seniors? Don't they have a D1 senior lineman? Surely there are a half dozen or more seniors that start. Add the apparent talent in the underclass ranks and I would expect a .500 record, not two wins. I am not saying they should be contenders if they are starting a ton of underclassmen, but I would expect more than what I am seeing if I am a Ryle fan.

They are not receiving coaching throughout the FTJFL? I thought most Highlands frosh teams were ready for action because of this league. What everyone fails to mention, Is that Highlands first possession started off with two fumbles and two false start penalties that led to a 4 and 39. Then proceeded to have several more false starts and mistakes throughout the game. Not that good or not that disciplined?

They receive some coaching at the FTJFL level, but if you think you can really teach good O line technique in a couple of hours a night, several nights a week from August to October I think you are wrong. And I coached O linemen in the FTJFL for years. Heck, I often had kids playing the O line that became DBs, RBs, etc. at the frosh and varsity level years later. You did the best you could with what you had. At the 3/4 level, you hoped you could get them out of the huddle and up to the line of scrimmage in the right spot. At the 5/6 level, you hoped for a little more. At the 7/8 level you could hope for even more but still, with kids practicing positions on both sides of the ball over a very limited amount of time, you didn't and shouldn't expect great or even good technique.

At the frosh level, they get better coaching, but even then there is no way they've learned and developed the techniques that they'd need to be good o linemen. I've yet to see a frosh O linemen anywhere, including both of my sons that went on to be all state, have good technique. Plus when you are small, you've not even begun to develop the strength and endurance necessary to effectively block kids bigger than you.

Don't believe the stuff you hear and read about Highlands frosh teams being ready for action because of the league. It's not true. If anything, the way the league is ran with the kids broken up amongst the teams and not having played together before their frosh year, makes the frosh year even harder to be successful. The primary goal of the league is and should be to make sure the kids have fun playing football so they keep playing football. If you can teach them a little, that's great, but the high school coaches will teach them what they need to know when they become high school players.

How many Soph's start at key positions at Ryle?

I seem to remember a HHS frosh team back in the 80's that everyone and even the folks in town were writing off. If I can recall they won either 1 or 2 games and just weren't very good. By the time they were Sr's they were one of the more dominant teams in the state. They beat a very loaded Tilghman team in the State finals in 1989. Wait, did I just say finals. How did that happen? Current HHS Co-Head coach and defensive co-ord Brian Weinrich started at WR that year. Just shows what a few years of hard work and dedication can do for you. This current frosh class will be fine simply because of the system in place and what's across their chests. This may sound a little over the top but unless you have played at HHS you simply wouldn't understand. It's a "Bluebird" thingy!
