Ryle 42 Highlands 0 (Frosh)

I am glad you are excited on see the results from playing mostly Juniors, and Sophmores on varsity. As you can see from Freshamn and J.V results that Rlye has some players that will make a difference in the coming years. The question you should be asking, since you are the Voice of reason, which means you study all sides of any conflict, problems, sucess, failure, and adversity and make a reasonable conclusion. Is what are the other teams going to do to stop Ryle in the future.
This is an easy answer, keep the same varsity coaching staff and they will stop themselves.

Looking at this year's varsity results with those juniors and sophomores on the roster, Ryle is not causing anyone to have concerns about the future. Two wins - one over a winless team and the other over a two win team that basically blew the game to give Ryle the win. If there is good talent in those junior and sophomore classes, the record should look better than it does.

Losses to Scott County, Sycamore, Simon Kenton, and Conner. Ryle should have beaten Shelby County, they gave that one away. Name one of those first four that Ryle "should have" won?

Does 6A Ryle have zero seniors? Don't they have a D1 senior lineman? Surely there are a half dozen or more seniors that start. Add the apparent talent in the underclass ranks and I would expect a .500 record, not two wins. I am not saying they should be contenders if they are starting a ton of underclassmen, but I would expect more than what I am seeing if I am a Ryle fan.

They do have seniors, several of which are out for the season and the D1 lineman missed 2-3 games with a knee injury. All were/are key players for Ryle and have been replaced by sophomores. People that know nothing about football are quick to judge a coaching staff when they have no clue what's going on and never knew what was going on when they were considered "part of the loop."

How many Soph's start at key positions at Ryle?

Many more contribute as backups, in some cases #2's and on special teams. The senior class wasn't great to begin with and has had three devastating acl's. The junior class wasnt great to begin with, had one major loss for the season (#1) . People say how great the junior class was as freshman, but got crushed by all good teams they faced; Dixie, Cov Cath, and SK. The sophomore class was said to be the best class since the 2010 senior group.

This years freshman, combined with the soph group will win a bunch of games in years to come...despite who is coaching them. It takes talent to win people....

IF the Sophomore class is so talented and have that many starting especially on offense....again why only 2 wins?

I thought England was supposed to be all world?

When does that start showing up in varsity games?

Also, if Ryle played Holy Cross and New Cath (and beat Shelby County), they might be 5-2. Things arent great in Union but they are not terribly bleak.

How good was Cooper when they had all of their sophomores, including Morris and co. starting? How good was SK when they had all of those sophomores starting, including Kuntz and co.?

NCC beats Ryle. I haven't seen Holy Cross this year.

Cooper swept district when they had this years seniors as sophomores with many starting their sophomore year. BTW, that was only Coopers 3rd year in existence when last years senior class were sophomores.

Now if you are thinking this years sophomore class and next years sophomore class are like Cooper's 2010 and 2011 sophomore class, then I am guessing you expect Ryle to go to State Championship game in 2015?

This is an easy answer, keep the same varsity coaching staff and they will stop themselves.

Hmmm.......

When the kids start playing Varsity. Just a guess.

Just a sample of what is comming up for Ryle. 2011 Freshman team went 6-3 beating champion Dixie final game of season. (Juniors now) 2012 Freshman is runners up in Championship game. 2013 Freshman are favored to win it all. J.V. this year has beat Sycamore, Conner,Scott County, Boone. Ladies and gentleman this team is rising up.

Freshman and JV means absolutely NOTHING unless it translates to FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. This is not to say the wins aren't important at those levels but to think that just because a freshman, JV or MS team has great success and that will automatically produce winning district/regional/State titles one is sadly mistaken. That same Ryle JV team lost to Cooper's JV team, who is 5-1, but no one is proclaiming Cooper to be a power next year as no one should.

Not demininshing a great win for the program but as others have stated, the bigger question is why hasn't all the great success at the lower levels produced any district titles over the last few years? I tend say let's wait and see what happens over the next couple year's. NKY needs another power and Ryle has the talent to do but until it's proven on Friday nights...it is what it is, good wins for the Freshman and JV programs and that's all.

It's simple to explain yet difficult to implement. Highlands develops players far better than anyone in NKY and probably the state. I believe that Ryle has beaten Highlands 5 out of the last 7 years at the Frosh level. All schools in NKY should try to emulate what the Birds do. That is a high compliment to Highlands and the system and dedication of players, parents and coaches. Congrats again to the Raiders on a very fine display of football last night.

The current Junior class finished in a 4 way tie for the #1 seed with Dixie, CovCath, and Highlands. The current Junior class beat Highlands. I don't think they were blown out by anyone - don't have the scores, but they were a good frosh group. Also, they could not have lost to SK ( for one - SK was not good - HHS beat them by 50 ) since the tie was four teams with 2 losses.

If you compare the contributors at the varsity level between HHS and Ryle from that 2011 frosh season you will see the differences. It's all about molding the talents from each class into the best varsity team possible.

Good luck to the Raiders figuring this out.

Baloney!

And your response furthers my suspicion there is something larger at work.

How about this, how many kids have left/been suspended/no longer play for the Highlands Frosh team started the year with the team?

The answer is one. He transferred to NCC. Reason goes much deeper than football.
